provide e2e test with real invalidation notifications

Project Member Reported by tschumann@chromium.org, Jul 13

Issue description

We currently don't have an e2e test set up that verifies the notification mechanism. KitchenSync would be a great fit, but it's worth pointing out that this is also not hooked up with notifications yet.

This has two possible stages:
1. Introduce a fake invalidations server for integration tests (already a big win, compared to the mess we have today).
2. Integrate with real invalidations server in KitchenSync (latency could be a problem).
