On Android 8, the WebView implementation is provided by Chrome, unless you've disabled it. To test beta versions of WebView you should install Chrome Beta, and choose it as the WebView provider in developer settings.

This means webview doesnt work on samsung's browser?
Samsung's browser does not use WebView at all.

ecadvocate@ to clarify, there's a few different things mentioned on this thread:

 * The Samsung browser app does not use the WebView framework component (comment #4)
 * For apps which do use the WebView framework component, that component is implemented by the Android System WebView package (which you've screenshotted) on Android 5.0-6.0, and is implemented by Chrome for Android package on Android 7.0 and above (comment #1)
   * If you'd like to use the beta release of WebView in your apps, complete steps are mentioned here [1] (see the "On Android N or above" section)

Hope this clarifies things, and thanks for trying WebView beta!

thanks. I uninstalled and reinstall worked. I don't have Chrome browser,
not enough room. So I'll exit beta testing.
