Sorry for the lack of updates recently. Traveling and other obligations (HC) have kept me busy. I spent today and the end of last week trying to understand what the loading metric breakdowns actually mean after realizing that some parts were ambiguous. I discovered that they can actually be pretty tricky to interpret and wrote a doc explaining why: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1K3w8geMq8aCgLymVT3rrGuaDBPkFgrG_O1cbBhLP8fI/edit# Given this, I'm not as convinced as I once was that getting first-class integration for a DOM category into these loading metrics is super worthwhile. Instead, I think that we might be better off getting a lower bound on how much time is spent in these Blink C++ DOM methods, how that time changes as the load time percentile increases, and calling it a day. Interested in your thoughts. (Also, sorry for the spam from the pinpoint jobs - in retrospect, I should have created a dummy bug so as not to spam this one.) |
