Cannot change username of saved password

Project Member Reported by sumitgt@google.com, Jul 3

Issue description

Chrome Version: 67.0.3396.99 (Official Build) (64-bit)
URLs: N/A

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Let chrome's password manager save password for a site.
2. Attempt to change the username (because it was incorrect the first time)

What is the expected result?
There should be a way to edit the username

What happens instead?
Only password can be edited, username cannot.

Please provide any additional information below.
I was using chrome password manager for some sites, but I also use lastpass. On some sites lastpass fills in the username but leaves some "*" characters in the username. Chrome then offered to save the password, and I accepted. Chrome ended up saving the username with the "*" characters, and now it doesn't offer a way to fix it.

Attach a screenshot or the output from chrome://password-manager-internals if possible

sumitgt@ Thanks for the issue.

Able to reproduce this issue on Windows 10, Mac OS 10.13.5 and Ubuntu 14.04 on the reported version 67.0.3396.99 and the latest Canary 69.0.3482.0 as per the original comment.

Cannot change the username of the saved password in chrome://settings/passwords.

This is a Non-Regression issue as this behavior is observed from M-60 chrome builds.
Hence marking this as Untriaged for further updates from Dev.

Thanks..

+nepper, vasilii because we talked about this today.
This happened to me today while creating mileage plan accounts for my family at Alaska.com. For some reason the mileage number used as a username is not saved as such by Chrome's password manager and I cannot edit edit the saved entries to fix that.

Furthermore, having more than one entry for my family members make things even more complicated. In fact it seems I only ever get presented with a single option when attempting to login even though more than one exists when I look at the saved passwords list.
You can write down the passwords, delete the credentials and save them while logging in on a desktop machine. The save dialog now allows you to edit the username while saving. On Android/iOS that's not possible, yet.

Re #5: That happened from a MacBook. I clicked on the key icon on the omnibar but editing the entry was not possible. From what milestone should editing be possible on desktop?
Editing is possible only when you are saving a credential at the moment.
