Gmail emails not opening, they are just hung up on loading.

Reported by craigmur...@gmail.com, Jul 3

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 10575.58.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/67.0.3396.99 Safari/537.36
Platform: Google_Panther.4920.24.26

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Just tried opening email in my gmail account
2.
3.

What is the expected behavior?
To actually open and just stay "loading"

What went wrong?
9/10 emails in my Gmail account just state "Loading" since this past update. I rolled back to 65.0.3325.184 (reinstalled Chrome OS) and all issues were alleviated...including another issue w/ my unit not going into sleep mode. This issue occurs with not just 1 Gmail account but 4 different ones on 2 Chrome OS devices with the new updates...worked fine on Firefox and Chrome on another Linux based computer...

Did this work before? Yes 65.0.3325.184

Chrome version: 67.0.3396.99 Channel: stable
OS Version: 10575.58.0
Flash Version: 30.0.0.113

Just tried it on 65.0.3325.184 and it works fine...definitely some odd bug that keeps Gmail emails from opening...

If you open DevTools (F12), does that show any errors on the console when an email doesn't load? Also, I doubt this is related, but can you see if visiting chrome://flags/#site-isolation-trial-opt-out, setting it to "Opt out", and restarting helps?

No there are no errors I can see and the opt-out did not work unfortunately. Thank you for your reply.

I removed both Social & Promotion tab/sections and the issue seems to be alleviated for now. This all started happening right after the past "2" updates w/ the upgraded Gmail.
I should also add that it does not go into sleep mode anymore. When I rolled back to 65.0.3325.184 it did in fact go in sleep mode.
Also chrome://flags/#site-isolation-trial-opt-out, setting it to "Opt out" did not work as well. Thank you.
So for some reason (which is good news), Sleep mode has been functioning and the frequency of Gmail "loading" issues have diminished (approx. 90%). One really strange issue that I just noticed was "odd" things popping up w/ Autofill (e.g. some error code for a site found in multiple search bars, a long 40 digit number on a login page among others). These are things I have never looked up or ever added to autofill for that matter...just some "odd" quirks these past 2 updates.

Downgrading P2s that haven't been modified in more than 6 months, which also do not have a component or owner.
