Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/67.0.3396.87 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: Play this video in full-screen mode from my computer: https://www.wimp.com/ok-go-makes-another-great-music-video-with-a-bunch-of-well-trained-dogs/ What is the expected behavior? Video plays clearly in full-screen mode. What went wrong? Screen is distorted diagonally. Did this work before? No Chrome version: 67.0.3396.87 Channel: n/a OS Version: OS X 10.13.5 Flash Version: Hello! I'm using a MacBook Air I purchased in April. When videos are in full screen mode in Chrome, they intermittently stretch diagonally across my screen. This is corrected by just moving the cursor with the trackpad. If I do not move the cursor, the screen continues to be distorted. This does not happen with all videos. When it does happen and I correct it, it occurs repeatedly and consistently and I am unable to watch that video. It happens with videos on multiple websites, and does not happen when I'm using a different browser; it is unique to Chrome. My OS is High Sierra and my Chrome version is listed as "66.0.3359.139 (Official Build) (64-bit)". The affected videos have never displayed properly on this computer. I tried to take screenshots, but they all show up as if the screen were displaying properly (when it is not), so I took a pic of my screen with my phone (attached). I did not experience this issue when using my previous MacBook Air (mid-2012) and I do not experience this issue when using my Windows ThinkPad. I posted the issue in a Google Chrome Help forum and engaged with a Google rep named Diana. The thread can be found here: https://productforums.google.com/forum/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=footer#!msg/chrome/fFcaz3gFp3I/zMa8yMzcCgAJ I have tried clearing my cache/cookies, using Chrome in Incognito Mode, removing unwanted software & viruses/malware, uninstalling my MalwareBytes, making sure my firewall is off, creatng a new Google account profile, resetting Chrome settings to default, logging into my Mac as a guest user, restarting my MacBook in safe mode, uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome multiple times, and uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome with an alternate installer. It was at this point Diana decided this is a device specific issue and I must contact the manufacturer of my MacBook Air. I spoke with an Apple rep and her supervisor and both informed me that the issue is not with Apple. According to them, it could be caused by a compatibility issue between High Sierra and Chrome, in which case Google would need to release a fix, or it could be a problem with my settings, in which case Google would need to identify and correct it. Diana then instructed me to report the issue to Chrome by submitting a report. She also instructed me to post the issue in the Chrome Developer Tools Help Forum and in Chromium Projects Groups. A rep from the Chrome Developer Tools Help Forum refused to allow me to post there and instructed me to post in Chromium Discuss and here in crbug.com. Chromium Discuss has not allowed me to post there yet, either (awaiting a reason), so I’m hoping someone here can help. Any help with fixing this would be greatly appreciated. -Megan :)

Ccameron, is that an instruction for me? This is my first time posting here, I'm not sure how it works. Thanks, -Megan :)

Re #5, yes, please. This sounds like an issue with fullscreen low power mode, similar to issue 817007. Also, could you try running Chrome from the command line using the flag --disable-avfoundation-overlays? (this means closing Chrome, opening Terminal, and typing (without quotes) "/Applications/Google\ Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\ Chrome --disable-avfoundation-overlays")

Wow, running Chrome from the command line is the first thing that actually worked! My test video did not distort when I followed your instruction. This is encouraging; does this mean we can fix it? Regarding the PDF, I don't have a printer, so I copied&pasted into Word and saved it as a PDF (after adjusting the margins). Will this work? If not, I'll be able to use someone else's printer. Just let me know. :)

#7 - :) Chrome has an option to "print" directly into a PDF file. This means it simply saves the content of the page as a PDF file. You were definitely not asked to print it and then scan it to PDF or something. :) This is a nice option to have, so in case you were wondering how, press Command + P (or right click and select "Print...". Next to "Destination", you should either see "Save as PDF", or after clicking on the "Change..." button, you can choose "Save as PDF". Then, click on the blue "Save" (previously "Pring") and it will save the page as a PDF file. Anyway, the PDF you attached should be enough, it was just an easy way to copy the content of about:gpu.

Unble to reproduce the issue on reported chrome version 67.0.3396.87, latest stable 67.0.3396.99 using Mac 10.13.5. Steps: --------- 1. Launched chrome 2. Navigated to given URL "https://www.wimp.com/ok-go-makes-another-great-music-video-with-a-bunch-of-well-trained-dogs/" 3. Enabled full screen mode As we have not seen any screen distortion @Reporter: request you to retry this issue with fresh profile without any extensions/apps or reset all the flags and let us know if issue still persists. Also provide "chrome://gpu". Thanks.!

I posted Comment 11, then deleted it in order to modify the information. By the the time I deleted it, Comment 12 had been posted. I apologize. Original Comment 11: Hi, Phanindra, Chrome GPU is attached. Screen distortion did not occur with freshly created Chrome profile. Do you still need me to "reset all the flags"? If so, how do I do that? Thanks! -Megan :) Update: Screen distortion DOES occur with freshly created Chrome profiles. I'm not sure why it didn't occur during my test, I'm guessing I didn't wait long enough. It is consistently occurring with two freshly created Chrome profiles. Thanks again. :)

This is a common issue of screen distortion due to display setting is not the correct way. It also effects on a printer so we could not find a good output. You can also find the good list of a technician on https://printerssupport.org/ricoh-printer-support/ for a good solution of your printer issue.

To be clear, this isn't a printer issue (for me); I don't even own a printer. I'm dealing with screen distortion on my actual laptop screen (as shown in photo). Any ideas on how to fix the screen distortion? :)

Just checking in... I don't know if this is helpful, but while videos on multiple websites display distorted in full-screen mode, it seems far more videos on Wimp.com do this. Perhaps a coincidence, but I'm not the expert. Hope this helps. :) |
