My UI looks awful, tabs look like firefox, extra space bulky blocky tabs

Reported by cinnamon...@gmail.com, Jun 27 2018

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/69.0.3474.0 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Upgrade to canary 69.0.3474.0
2. Look at your screen
3. Puke

What is the expected behavior?
I expect Google to not drastically change the UI of my browser without an opt-out option.

What went wrong?
I updated chrome and almost thought I launched Firefox -- As an end user I can't figure out if this is some new theme I can uninstall, if this is a joke, or if this is something I need to write code to get around. I can't find any references to this in the existing cases.

Did this work before? Yes 68.0.3440.33 looks normal

Chrome version: 69.0.3474.0 Channel: canary
OS Version: 6.3
Flash Version:

Attached is a screenshot for reference.

Yep, it looks terrible and Firefoxish but the designer(s) of Chrome know better as they explained in a blog post:
https://medium.com/google-design/redesigning-chrome-desktop-769aeb5ab987

Finding satisfaction in your work and the result of it
through your own eyes is more important than seeking validation through others’.
If you are truly and honestly satisfied with what you have done. You’re good.

You can disable it by selecting "Normal" in chrome://flags/#top-chrome-md
However someday the old UI will be removed and only the new one will remain.

chrome://flags/#top-chrome-md works beautifully; can I push this out to an enterprise via group policy? Is there a registry setting this equates to?

cinnamondouche@ Thanks for the issue.

Able to reproduce the issue on Windows 10 and Ubuntu 14.04 on the reported version 69.0.3474.0.
The new UI is seen by default from 69.0.3473.0 chrome builds.

Hence marking this issue as Untriaged and requesting update from Dev, as the reporter seems to have issues with the new UI.

Thanks..

Hey all this is still a problem in the enterprise [on Version 69.0.3479.0 (Official Build) canary (64-bit)]. Can we get a GPO ADM/ADMX template option for this?
