UI should be disabled in tablet mode because rotation is controlled by accelerometer. This has been this way for a while but there could be a regression. weidongg@, did you work on UI change? If so, can you take a look?

Still getting user reports on M68 Beta that automatic orientation change is not working. Disproportionately large number over last 28 days (9 reports / 43%) from Cyan devices. See https://listnr.corp.google.com/report/85559444793 https://listnr.corp.google.com/report/85560582588

Could be specific to the device and not ui/settings issue. gwendal@ can you take a look? I have cyan 70.0.3501.0/10907.0.0-18.07.25 and couldn't repro on this device though.

So, this just hit the beta channel. On the new interface, there is no auto-rotate button nor any mention of auto-rotate in the settings. I am seeing this on a pixelbook Version 70.0.3538.22 (Official Build) beta (64-bit). The controlling issue looks to be: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=856440 Also there are duplicate issues: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=879585 https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=882245 https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=880466

Further investigation indicates that this happens when my bluetooth mouse connects, and it also prevents display of the virtual keyboard. Then I have to reboot while the mouse is turned off to restore tablet functionality.

Based on that, I have a few more duplicates which indicate that this may also have hit stable: Duplicate: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=879923 Related: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=863149 It looks like the underlying cause may be discussed in some detail in https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=882410 It seems that https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=884096 may be the omnibus ticket for related issues.

The device will stay in clamshell mode when you have mouse connected. Rebooting shouldn't change the behavior and if it does, then it's a bug. I'm merging to 882410 as it's the same issue.
