a11y icon never appears in the status area |
||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionGoogle Chrome 69.0.3464.0 (Official Build) dev (64-bit) Revision 3c26b60e3842fee660bcff5eb35aa0587d795f02-refs/branch-heads/3464@{#1} Platform 10798.0.0 (Official Build) dev-channel eve What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) open the settings (2) go to the accessibility (3) enable at least one feature of accessibility What is the expected result? The accessibility icon appears in the shelf / status area What happens instead? Nothing appears It looks like the a11y icon is dropped intentionally along with the redesign of status area / system tray, I'm a bit nervous that this might be problematic. The new spec https://gallery.googleplex.com/projects/MCHbtQVoQ2HCZXS6M2rSjiqy/files/MCG16K9U0aaVg9n6665EzXbKwMSJbxAVNpw does not say why.

Assigning to Laura. @Laura, I do not want to close this bug without accessibility approval. Is there any accessibility use case for which the appearance of this icon in the status tray is absolutely necessary (not talking convenience, more UX-breaking use case)? I'n looking into way to bring icons back for larger screens but currently we are optimizing for small shelves. |
