Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/67.0.3396.62 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1.Find a crx file of ublock 2. enter extensions and turn on dev mode (because it works that way for some reason) and install the crx file that is totally not downloaded from webstore 3. See that it says the source is webstore when it certainly and deliberately is not. What is the expected behavior? To show chromium that the source of extensions manually installed via crx files downloaded from sites other than webstore is not the chrome webstore What went wrong? Google at it again trying to put its name under where it does not belong. WebStore page: - Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 67.0.3396.62 Channel: n/a OS Version: Flash Version: I do not use the "chrome webstore" because I do not accept Google's terms of service or privacy policy and I certainly do not want chromium to show the source of a manually installed extension as the webstore

Unable to reproduce this issue on reported version and latest stable 67.0.3396.87 using Ubuntu 14.04 and Mac 10.13.3. Installed attached extension from load unpacked extension in chrome://extensions, And clicked on details button observed source as Unpacked extension Loaded from: ~/Downloads/uBlock. Attached screenshot for reference. @Reporter: Please check the screenshot and let us know if we miss anything. any further information on reproducing the issue would help in better triaging. Thanks!

the ublock.zip in the attachment does not show chrome web store as the source, yet the other ublock crx I downloaded from a 3rd party website (which is not the chrome web store) shows chrome web store as the source while it is not the same is the case for the privacy-badger extension I downloaded from another website. I don't see why chromium shows the source of those downloaded from another site as chrome web store. the files I downloaded and used on chromium were in .crx btw I don't know if it makes a change but I certainly don't want the chrome web store to seem as the source while it is not.

It is because of the manifest.json includes `update_url` key. after removing it you won't see `View in Web Store` button. |
