Issue descriptionChrome Version : All with the new video player Behavior in Firefox 3.x/4.x: Sane What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) (For example) Open any direct video content Expected results Same good and easy to use video player as before Actual results A horrible decrease in user experience, immensely hurting usability and viewability. The play/pause button obstructs view, removing volume slider is just bad. Please revert to previous behaviour immediately or fix user experience issues by returning the volume slider and hiding the play/pause button after some small timeout. First attachment shows current behaviour in Chrome, second in current Firefox.

I can't agree more with this. The biggest issue is that the controls are gigantic (playskool-like). Also, there is an issue, going fullscreen while in Portrait mode over-exaggerates the height of the page, so controls are not visible (they are pushed out of the screen at the bottom), this is really bad regression as you can't pause or play, or even go out of fullscreen.

Ok the height issue is not related to modern media controls. My apologizes for spamming your issue. I suggest to reduce text size though :)

You forgot to mention that having to click on the play/pause button at the center of the video to play/pause (instead of anywhere) is PATENTLY INSANE, and gratuitously breaks with decades of universally adopted tradition. There should probably also be a play/pause button at the bottom left, for similar reasons of universally adopted tradition, even though it is redundant with the "click anywhere" way. (How did this get past QA?!?!?!?!????)

The middle play/pause button is removed and a volume slider is added on desktop in M71. Marking as fixed

If possible, also consider toggling the play/pause button visibility on mobile when tapping anywhere else but on the play/pause button. Thank you for fixing this ! (though I don't at the moment know what the new player looks or feels like) : )

Yeah, it's on the roadmap to be able to hide controls on mobile by tapping. Thanks for the feedback :) |
