Crostini + Android Studio: Popup search dialogs immediately close

Reported by brot...@gmail.com, Jun 16 2018

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 10718.22.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/68.0.3440.25 Safari/537.36
Platform: 10718.22.0 (Official Build) dev-channel eve

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Setup Android Studio on Pixelbook following the instructions at https://developer.android.com/topic/arc/studio
2. Launch Android Studio
3. Attempt to use common file and class search shortcuts like ctrl+n, ctrl+shift+n, or ctrl+shift+a.

What is the expected behavior?
Dialogs remains open so search can be completed.

What went wrong?
UI is very glitchy and will flash open for a split second and immediately close. Sometimes if I do some combination of tapping with the mouse at the same time I can "catch" the window but it's not consistent. For a full-time Android Studio user these shortcuts are really important.

Did this work before? No

Chrome version: 68.0.3440.25 Channel: dev
OS Version: 10718.22.0
Flash Version:

Android Studio 3.1.3
Build #AI-173.4819257, built on June 4, 2018
JRE: 1.8.0_152-release-1024-b01 amd64
JVM: OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM by JetBrains s.r.o
Linux 4.14.43-05062-g1048e72698de

Recent files dialog (ctrl + e) _is_ working correctly.

I was thinking this might be an Android Studio/IntelliJ bug but I could not reproduce it with the same version and code base on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and even on Pixelbook with crouton + xiwi.

Looks like this should be filed under details below but I didn't see those options during new issue wizard.

Is this report useful and the correct place for it? Not sure if these are obvious issues already being worked on and not worth logging since it's only in preview? I'm very eager to move my Android development over. :)

I'm happy to report I'm not seeing the issue after switching to the latest Android Studio Preview.
