Issue description
Chrome Version : 66.0.3359.181
URLs (if applicable) :
Other browsers tested:
Safari 11.1.1 FAIL
have tested this issue:
Safari: 11.1.1 FAIL
Firefox: NO
Edge: NO
What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) replace a button in an iframe to an <a href="navigation-changed-iframe.html" target="_blank"> click here </a> for this test file:
http://w3c-test.org/html/semantics/embedded-content/the-iframe-element/iframe_sandbox_allow_top_navigation_by_user_activation-manual.html
(2)click on the "click here" link
What is the expected result?
Navigation is allowed, a new tab is opened in Chrome
What happens instead?
Nothing. I think it limits usefulness of this sandboxing feature for ads that continue using target="_blank". https://www.chromestatus.com/feature/5629582019395584 . Sorry if I misunderstood the purpose of the feature.

Thanks for filing the issue! From comment#0 it is understood that the issue seems to be a feature request rather than a bug, hence changing the type to Feature. Requesting someone from Dev team to have a look into this. please find our observations 1. Created html file by using given "<a href=""navigation-changed-iframe.html"" target=""_blank""> click here </a>". 2. Clicked on Click here link and observed page getting failed. 3. And Navigated to given URL "http://w3c-test.org/html/semantics/embedded-content/the-iframe-element/iframe_sandbox_allow_top_navigation_by_user_activation-manual.html" 4. clicked on "Navigate to the top page"" button and observed ""PASSED: Navigation succeeded". Thanks!

After re-reading the original feature request it seems that this is essentially "allow-popups-by-user-activation" feature request, which is quite different. After adding "allow-popups" to sandbox, it behaves as expected - because "allow-popups" IS "allow-popups-by-user-activation". (You cannot open new pop-up w/o user activation (you get "pop up blocked"), and pop up only opens after clicking on a link. Sorry for bothering you. Please close this bug if possible, it was my misunderstanding. |
