Sudden random video burning\ghosting distortion when scroll up\down

Reported by awesomed...@gmail.com, Jun 10 2018

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/69.0.3453.0 Safari/537.36

Example URL:

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. open chrome
2. browse the internet for a while, problem will not appear immediately
3. watch a random video at a later stage of your browsing activity
4. video is playing, scroll down or up
5. video becomes black and adapts all the visuals that the website contents from beneath or above it
6. relaunch browser, repeat

What is the expected behavior?

This behavior only appears to happen at random time, some videos may appear okay with no errors, but sometimes, if youre lucky, if you watch a video on any platform like facebook\tumblr\youtube, it will adapt every graphic you will scroll through just like in the screenshot below.

Did this work before? Yes

Is it a problem with Flash or HTML5? HTML5

Does this work in other browsers? N/A

awesomedanx@ Thanks for the issue.

Tested this issue on Windows 10 and Mac OS 10.13.3 on the latest Canary 69.0.3453.0 and unable to reproduce the issue by following the below steps.
After browsing the internet for a while, and play on video and scroll through the page, cannot observe any distortion while scrolling.

Request you to retry the issue on a new chrome profile without any flags/extensions and update the thread with the observations.

Thanks..

I have been browsing throughout the day and havent been able to reproduce the problem, the bug must have been fixed over a nightly build.
I'll keep on putting my eye on it and see if it reproduces till late tomorrow

it has occurred to me today, but only once, once and only.
the issue became rarer and i dont think im willing to live off a new profile with no extensions and saved data for a really long time to sniff out the bug :(
ill keep you all updated on the behavior, it might need a little bit more extra time!

This looks like a resource synchronization issue. We released a texture before it should have been or used a texture that's not ready yet.

I remember we ran into this issue before.

Since it happens at a later time, I would guess likely it's at a time we ran out of resources from the pool.

That looks like what happens when we're not writing opaquely to the back buffer, if so it would show up as blue in debug builds.
Today is a new day, I started using Chrome approximately 5 minutes ago, I started off watching youtube videos to catch up on the E3 releases and so far I have only watched two videos and I have met a new problem.
When I start watching a youtube video (unsure if it can caused by a facebook\tumblr\any other platform) in between to 20 seconds to 50 seconds, my page crashed like in the picture attached, refreshing helped restoring the video and I was able to watch the video to the end.
Then I was watching another video, and the same has happened, at the 20-30 second mark.
I am writing this in because I am assuming that the problem I had in this thread has been attempted to be resolved by the developers in the most recent nightly.
I'll keep studying the issue, including seeing if it happens on other platforms, and if it will, and in addition if it happens frequently, I'll try and test the problem on a new profile

I tested the issue on a guest profile, and could not reproduce the problem.
I returned back to my original profile, and was testing the problem on facebook and tumblr, couldnt reproduce the problem either, only on youtube.
I closed my browser, and relaunched it, I can no longer reproduce the problem on youtube.
I'll keep you all updated on if it returns throughout my casual browsing today.
awesomedanx: Thank you soooo much for the updated report! I'd strongly recommend you to file a separate bug for the crash, which seems a different issue to me. The reason is that it'll be two different groups of people looking at these two issues. Mixing them together will make discussing harder.

When you do file a separate bug, would you please go to about://crashes and provide the Crash Report IDs you have for the crashes you are seeing (you can check the timestamp). That'll be the easiest for use to investigate. Thanks!
Got you covered! I only one crash log that happened today (though my pages have been crashing multiple times not until i relaunched chrome) and the ID is 6fd53c34-66c6-42c1-aa33-c86d2143b8ed!!

So far, ever since my last comment, I have been constantly browsing my Canary and watching youtube videos more frequently, I have yet not met any occurred issues, no page crashes nor played videos adapting environmental displays\items.

if anything irregular happens, I'll report asap or whenever I have the availability to!
If everything will be working just fine for a week, consider this thread closed!
Ever since my last update until right now, I havent encountered any issues
Until right now, when I was trying to watch a Facebook video haha.
It happens so rarely now that at the same time I wanna make a new profile and test it without my extensions, but at the same time I dont because the problem is no not frequent as it used to.
I use the most vanilla extensions too, i attached a picture of my extension list if anybody wanna test it themselves
