Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/67.0.3396.79 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Have a mouse with fourth (maybe fifth) mouse button 2. Be used to navigate back (and forth) in history using fourth (and fifth) mouse button 3. Open any pdf file, such as http://www.pdf995.com/samples/pdf.pdf 4. While mouse is hovering the pdf file content, press Mouse4 What is the expected behavior? History navigation backwards What went wrong? Nothing happens Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 67.0.3396.79 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: It does work if I hover, e.g., the Omnibox or the bookmarks bar before pressing Mouse4. The pdf content seems to be capturing the Mouse4 click. This reproduces on Canary (69.0.3452.0)

mr.berker@ Thanks for the issue. As a mouse with four mouse buttons is not available at TE end for testing this issue, adding 'TE-Hardware-Dependency' label for further help in triaging the issue. Thanks..

Maybe this isn't only the pdf plugin. I can reproduce the same issue on pages with bad SSL certificates. E.g., go to https://expired.badssl.com/ and try mouse4 to navigate back.

The bad SSL cert interstitial is also a bit special. Please consider filing a separate bug for that.

Still, maybe this isn't only the pdf plugin. I can reproduce the same issue on pages with Flash plugins, event if the plugin is not loaded: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/about

For what it's worth, I get the same issue. This was definitely not the behavior before. I don't know how many versions ago it worked though. (on Chrome 67.0.3396.99)

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/67.0.3396.87 Safari/537.36 I can confirm this for Linux as well (Ubuntu 16.04). I remember this working before but cannot confirm so. I also noticed that if I add HTML via inspector that the back functionality works when hovering over the added HTML but does not work when hovering over anything else (Omnibox, tab, pdf, ...)

This is due to r548089. On Linux, I just remapped my existing mouse buttons so I didn't have to go buy / borrow a mouse: xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 8 9 2 3 4 5 6 7 10"
