Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_4) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/67.0.3396.79 Safari/537.36 Example URL: It happened when I am downloading PDF Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. I downloaded a PDF file from any website. 2. It will auto open it as Preview in my Mac. 3. It does not allow me to choose where it will be stored. What is the expected behavior? 1. I am expecting it to to stop opening it from browser. 2. It also should ask me where shall I store the PDF file I wish to download instead of automatically placed it in default Download's folder. What went wrong? There was supposed to be a button to clear auto-open settings under the Downloads option in Chrome Advance Settings. Did this work before? Yes Year 2014 I think. Chrome version: 67.0.3396.79 Channel: stable OS Version: OS X 10.13.4 Flash Version:

I'm not sure about auto-open, but if you want it to prompt you before saving a file, go to Settings > Advanced > (scroll to Downloads) > "Ask where to save each file before downloading"

For auto-open, in Settings > Content Settings > PDF document, you can toggle the "Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome" setting.

It is not working. No matter what settings I have configured on the Google Chrome. I have tried everything. The PDF file still auto open on my Mac's app named "Preview" (mark my words, not in Chrome browse) after I clicked to download the PDF. I need the "clear auto-open button".

Hi, It happened after I clicked the "Always Open With System Viewer". [image: Screen Shot 2018-06-12 at 6.55.40 PM.png] From then onwards, all of my PDF files will auto open on my System Viewer "Preview". I need to revert this setting back to default. I don't wan to auto open system viewer. Btw, I am using Google Canary to take this screenshot. I am forced to use Google Canary right now.

arrentan@ Thanks for the update. Able to reproduce this issue on Windows 10, Mac OS 10.13.5 and Ubuntu 14.04 on the reported version 67.0.3396.79 and the latest Canary 69.0.3457.0 by following the below steps. 1. Launched Chrome and downloaded a file. 2. From the download bar menu, selected the "Always open with System Viewer" option. 3. while trying to open the downloaded file, it is opening with the system viewer, but once the download bar is closed, there is no way to uncheck the option "Always open with System Viewer". Attached is the screen cast for reference. This is a Non-Regression issue as this behavior is observed from M-60 chrome builds. Hence marking this as Untriaged for further updates from Dev. Thanks..

For my settings, the auto open will open on my Preview directly instead of on browser. Meaning that after I click a click to download the PDF, the PDF will auto open on my Mac's system "Preview" instead of asking me where to save the file.

Hi, we're using Chrome 67.0.3396.87 (Official Build) (64-bit) in our enterprise, and users are reporting the same issue. We've reproduced this exact issue on Windows 10, 1709.

We managed to resolve this issue by deleting our Chrome UserData folder: C:\Users\tbrown\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data

There is probably a Chrome folder in the /library system folder on macOS.

Got it sorted after deleted the whole Google Chrome file in the library. It should not have be such as hassle if the button of Clear Auto Open still there.

arrentan@, have a look at https://productforums.google.com/d/msg/chrome/7mZxGSFpxMY/xd7qHzpgBgAJ (still kind of a hassle, but not as invasive as deleting your settings or creating a new profile) I can't access 853734. Is there a public place to track this bug now? |
