Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/67.0.3396.62 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. .lnk file download from crm 2. downloaded correctly 3. renamed into .download, so file opens up wrong What is the expected behavior? .lnk file should stay with that extension when downloading it What went wrong? we need the files to keep that extensions for internal purposes, means we can't open the file needed because link to original file is not found Did this work before? No Chrome version: 67.0.3396.62 Channel: stable OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2) Flash Version: Works on Firefox but we'd like to use Chrome.

Agreed, that's probably the same issue. Having said that, I'm no longer on downloads or indeed the chromium project anymore, so lateralling to dtrainor@.

Able to reproduce this issue on Windows 10 on the reported version 67.0.3396.62 and the latest Canary 69.0.3455.0 as per the original comment Unable to reproduce the issue on Mac OS 10.13.5 and Ubuntu 14.04. While trying to download a .lnk file, it is downloaded as file.download instead of file.lnk. This is a Non-Regression issue as this behavior is observed from M-60 chrome builds. Hence marking this as Untriaged for further updates from Dev. Thanks..
