SmartLock login screen checkbox lacks clarity/context and is potentially confusing |
||
Issue descriptionThe toggle for SmartLock login says, "Use Smart Lock to sign in to your account". The term 'sign in' is often overloaded and confused with 'login' and 'unlock'. I imagine most users don't know the difference between login/signin and unlock. Additionally the only UI that shows SmartLock is enabled at all is a clear button that says "Turn off". On top of that, there is no context about potential security/safety implications of turning on SL login. This could definitely be cleared up.

Hi Jesse, I'm a little confused on this flow, looks like it tries to find the phone before you choose which phone? Are slides just out of order? It seems like it would be: choose phone > set up Smart Lock on phone > Find phone from Chromebook > Get notification on phone > (what do you do with notification? enter a code? jsut tap to confirm? ) > Confirm on Chromebook. Let's chat Friday if you're in.

, Jun 5 2018Screenshots of current experience attached here. Our inconsistent use of terminology ("login" / "sign in" / "unlock") should be a relatively easy fix. For this, I defer to jonann@ For the obtuse "turn off" button and opted-out state following feature setup, I will work with shibasheikh@ to define a cleaner experience.70.4 KB
