Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/69.0.3447.3 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. load the extension 2. open a new tab 3. navigate away from it (e.g google something from omnibar) 4. go back to newtab page with navigate back arrow What is the expected behavior? to show the new-tab page with no unexpected errors. What went wrong? didn't show the custom new-tab page and showed this erros: "This site can’t be reached The webpage at chrome-extension://ioobhklmhoijaginlnbcmlcjjkgffgnp/#/newtab might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. ERR_UNEXPECTED" WebStore page: Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 69.0.3447.3 Channel: canary OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: there are many chrome bugs, because space optimized extensions with a single page applications and multiple routes in a single html file were not considered in design and implementations. see issue 847612 https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=847612

#1 yes, i'ts a generated Id by chrome for development, i'm developing a cross-browser extension boilerplate that is so simple yet modern, performant (smallest bundle size, fastest loading speed with code reuse and dynamic loading enabled by code splitting and loading by the framework) and a good development experience and speed (with auto/live reloading and sourcemaps for debugging). just pushed it, here it is: https://github.com/wis/KISS-Angular-TypeScript-Live-Reloading-WebExtensions-Boilerplate but sadly these 2 issues are blockers.

I still believe this issue belong to Platform>Extensions, UI>Browser>Navigation, or UI>Browser>NewTabPage. I work on Internals>Network, but it's probably not related to that. However, while we are waiting for the other teams to triage this bug, if you can collect and attach a chrome://net-export log, I'm happy to take a look at it, just in case this is network stack related after all. Instructions can be found here: https://sites.google.com/a/chromium.org/dev/for-testers/providing-network-details. Tentatively adding Internals>Network label to keep it on the radar for our network bug triage rotation.

Do you see the same behavior in M67 (67.0.3396.68 Stable) and M68 (68.0.3440.14 Dev)? Canary is built nightly & may be unstable.

These requests aren't owned by the network team.

@Reporter: As per comment#7 could you please check the behavior on latest stable and dev and report us back the behavior. You can download build from https://www.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel. Hence adding Needs-Feedback label. Thanks!

I don't think this is a regression, it never worked.

it had my IP address in a log line for a QUIC handshake with home, Google.com, despite test/logging duration being only few seconds. I took the freedom to replace it with "MY.IP.WAS.HERE" and redact some few other stuff. shouldn't that be fixed given that we're posting the log publicly here? relevant URLs or details to focus on: chrome-extension://lfgjdnhkmgehglhkiheobojanjemgghp/#/newtab

wesam.wesam.co@ Thanks for the update. Tried loading the given extension on Windows 10 on the latest Canary 69.0.3466.0 in comment #3 and unable to load the extension. Can see the error "Failed to load extension" while trying to load the same. Can you please provide a sample extension files in zip format which will help in reproducing the issue. Also requesting CC'ed Devs to look into the issue and help in further triaging. Thanks..

you might have downloaded the repo from github and tried loading the extension without building it first. you need to have node js installed and to run 'npm install' then 'npm build' in the command line in the source code directory before you load it. but here's a link to a built and bundled extension zip I uploaded and provided in my related issue 847612 Comment #10 on the 30th of May. https://uploadfiles.io/9h3i7 load it, open a new tab, accept the new tab in the browser popup, hit F5 to refresh

As there is no update from the reporter since a long time, marking this issue as WontFix. Please feel free to raise a new bug if any issues are observed on the latest Chrome builds. Thanks... |
