Chrome remote desktop "Resize desktop to fit" option does nothing

Reported by andrew.m...@gmail.com, Jun 1 2018

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 10718.4.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/68.0.3440.4 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Install chrome remote desktop on Pixelbook and Windows 10 machine
2. Connect to remote desktop
3. Turn on "Resize desktop to fit"

What is the expected behavior?
The desktop is resized to match the resolution and scaling of the Pixelbook.

What went wrong?

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 68.0.3440.4 Channel: dev
OS Version: 10718.4.0
Flash Version:

I am trying to remote from a Pixelbook running dev channel Version 68.0.3437.0 to an MSI GS63 STEALTH 010 laptop running Windows 10. Both machines are using the Chrome remote desktop extension version 63.0.3239.17. The laptop is connected to a 4k monitor via HDMI. The internal display on the laptop is disabled, Windows is configured to only display on the 4k screen.

The issue I'm having is that the "resize desktop to fit" option does not do anything. Togging it on or off or reconnecting has no effect. Rebooting the Windows machine also has no effect.

This makes it difficult to use remote desktop. The shrink option makes the 4k display too small to see on my Pixelbook. Without the resize option and with the shrink option turned off there is too much horizontal scrolling to be useful.

I tried it on another computer with the same result. A windows 10 desktop computer with a 1080p screen and an AMD RX480 video card. Same version of Chrome Remote Desktop, same results. The "Resize desktop to fit" option does nothing. I may be forced to return my new Pixelbook if there is no effective remote desktop solution.

This seems like a bug with Chrome remote desktop. I cannot find any options to adjust that might help the situation. Are there any logs I can provide or beta builds I can try?
