Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/66.0.3359.181 Safari/537.36 Example URL: http://webglsamples.org/aquarium/aquarium.html Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. First I visit the page webgl testpage without the docking station plugged in and I get around 55 fps. 2. Plug in the docking station and I still get 55fps 3. Restart Chrome, while the docking station is plugged in and visit the webgl test page again: I get around 12fps. What is the expected behavior? I am expecting to get 55 fps in both cases What went wrong? Seems like during the startup you are detecting if hardware acceleration is available, but when the docking station is connected, this does not work correctly. As long as I don't restart Chrome, it works just fine if Chrome is launched BEFORE I connect the docking station. Did this work before? N/A Is it a problem with Flash or HTML5? N/A Does this work in other browsers? sschatka@ Thanks for the issue. As this issue needs to be tested using 'docking station', this is not available at TE end to test further. Hence adding 'TE-Hardware-Dependency' label for further help in triaging the issue. Thanks..

OK, let me know, if I can help by turning on some debugflags or attach some more logs

Over to WebGL folks (no <audio> <video> used here)

Submitter: could you please tell us the exact model of laptop and docking station you are using? It seems clear your Chrome installation is falling back to software rendering via SwiftShader in this case, but I'm not 100% sure why. We have a Razer laptop with external GPU in house, and this case at least doesn't fall back to software rendering. +Intel folks since this is happening on a Windows laptop with Intel GPU.

@sschatka, is your docking station connected to any external monitor? If so, can you try to disable it and try again?

I am using a dell precision 5520 with a d6000 docking station. Yes there are external monitors connected. I have disconnected them and it works fine. After reconnecting 1 monitor(i have 2 connected to the docking station usually) windows is switching into mirror mode(and not into extend desktop mode) and it is still using the gpu, but when I attach the second monitor it will switch to the extend mode and the cpu will be used

This is a Kabylake laptop. I just simply tried my laptop (HD Graphics 520) with an external monitor connected under extend mode (without docking station), and WebGL worked well. I'm not sure if I can find related hardware at my side.

ligimole: is it possible for the test team to get this hardware and try to repro?
,
Aug 24
Adrienne, if you could provide us with exact hardware configuration of system and docking station from amazon.in, QA can procure and try a repro.

ligi: I have a MS Surface that has the exact GPU (Intel HD 520). I can bring it to you for testing.

But first, can you try with Chrome Beta (currently M69)? We do have a bug in M68 that sometimes we push Chrome to SwiftShader incorrectly. I am wondering if it's related to that. If M69 Beta still fails the same way, we will try to reproduce in house.
