Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/66.0.3359.181 Safari/537.36 Example URL: Steps to reproduce the problem: Log into WeVideo https://www.wevideo.com/sign-in Username/Password googledemo / googledemo Click on the media tab (https://www.wevideo.com/hub#media) Click on the FAB lower right, click import media, click import from google drive (first option bottom left of popup) (on some chromebooks, you have to click the option twice) What is the expected behavior? After oauth, user is redirected to Picker to select files for import Example video https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Qwtzd2unLiD1fhL6uaLIWWfs1xZsiCgp What went wrong? User gets stuck on a blank page. Video of the behavior can be viewed here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aOnFe8HVvn5T2eX0gAwPYCFkhKqY8e7R/view Does it occur on multiple sites: N/A Is it a problem with a plugin? N/A Did this work before? Yes Does this work in other browsers? N/A Chrome version: 66.0.3359.181 Channel: stable OS Version: OS X 10.11.6 Flash Version: We've been working with several teachers with the issue and we are not able to narrow down the cause. We ruled out a network problem, as some teachers are able to get it working flawlessly on Firefox but not Chrome on the same device. Those same users also got the problem in Chrome Canary. We ruled out extensions causing the problem, as teachers have tried incognito mode along with all extensions disabled and still encounter the problem. We ruled out specific account related problem because the teachers provided us with the credentials for their accounts and we've attempted it on our mac/windows machines and chromebooks but were ultimately unable to reproduce. The only way we got even close to reproducing the problem is if we block the script completely. Many of the teachers reporting the problem had this functionality working until about 3 weeks ago.

We are also experiencing this issue, but it is not isolated to Chrome, it hapens on Firefox as well (attached). It happens in Firefox as well. We are also running Chrome OS version 64.x on our school Chromebooks, and still experience the issue.

Unable to reproduce this issue on reported version 66.0.3359.181 using Mac 10.13.3, able to see drive picker and able to attach file. Attaching screencast for reference. @Reporter: Could you please check the screencast and let us know if we miss anything? Also please let us know if this is seen in other OS? Please check the issue on fresh profile which do not have any apps/extensions and all flags from chrome://flags set to default. Any further information on reproducing the issue would help in better triaging. Thanks!

Hi Sindhu, Your screencast is correct, and this is the behavior we see on our end as well. But we have video evidence of teachers experiencing the issue of the white page and the teachers have tried on a newly created Google accounts as well. For the users experiencing this issue, please provide comment.

This is an issue in Chrome and Explorer... tried shutting down all extensions and even signing incognito. Nothing seemed to work. Screen shot pretty much reflects what others have posted.

Hi Phanindra, The teachers experiencing the problem are typically on chromebooks or windows machines, almost none of them are on mac device. Although I suspect there's something related to google suite for education accounts which is causing this issue, since I am not able to reproduce the issue on a normal google account nor a google suite for business account. Is there a way you can look into the server logs for the teachers commenting in this report to dig deeper? As established in the issue description, we are not able to reproduce what the teachers are experiencing but there are plenty of teachers in plenty of different schools all having the exact same problem. To the other teachers commenting in this thread, please try Chrome 67 and report back.

Having the same issue with a few of our users. One user cannot get the OAuth display. It will eventually skip the OAuth page and display the picker as a blank page. Another user had their OAuth display and was able to select their account, but the picker would still display a blank page. Per comment #5 & #9, I've had both of these users update their Chrome browser to the latest version (version 67.0.3396.62) but the issue still persists. We tried Incognito mode, Firefox, Edge, and IE, all having the same issue with the picker showing up blank. My account seems to be unaffected when using Chrome (version 67.0.3396.62), but, Firefox, Edge, and IE cannot access the picker.

[Mac triage] Hi all, As far as I can tell, this is an issue with Drive, and not Chrome. I asked the Drive team if they have any information and linked them to this bug. Feel free to continue to post updates, and if I hear anything concrete, I'll report back.

We are having this issue as well. After some troubleshooting on various devices, browsers, and operating systems, we have found that accessing Google Drive to upload media from WeVideo does not seem to be following any sort of pattern. We have recreated the problem on various different Chromebooks, on both Firefox and Chrome, and on various versions of the operating systems. All of our accounts are created via the "sign in with Google." And we have found that on a single device, operating system, and browser, we can log in and have the system freeze and then log in another time and it's working fine. Based on the last post from syd@chromium.org, is there a bug report for Drive where we can post this information?
,

We have observed the same behavior with this issue. For example, I am running Chrome OS Version 67.0.3396.99 (Official Build)(64-bit). When I tried to open the picker on Thursday, I get nothing but a white screen (as showed in my earlier post). But today, with no known changes to software or network config, it works fine. Echoing Brianne's question, is there a bug report for Drive where we can post this information?

It's hit or miss, but when it's a miss during class it causes a big problem.

This is happening for me as well, all week on a variety of different computers- but always signed into Chrome.

Hello, We are having an issue with WeVideo. When students try to access their Drive, the screen goes white and they are unable to access the Drive.
,

I have 2 students running Windows 10 and Chrome latest build. When we try to use the Google Drive integration to get media they get a white, blank window once they have selected their account.

For anyone experiencing this issue, if you open DevTools (ctrl-shift-i), does that show any errors on the console?
,
Oct 25
Further to my previous comment now I am seeing the issue in other configurations. I have students using Mac OS High Sierra Version 10.13.6 and they are unable to use the google Drive integration. We have tried Chrome and Firefox.

To the users that are experiencing this issue, please follow the Chrome team member's request in Comment 20.

We are also experiencing this and would like it fixed. We have 132 students using this tool. Thanks.

So, I too, am very concerned with this issues and would like some attention devoted to this. I have managed to find a small clue: if one clears all cookies (in chrome), you can get into drive. I have replicated this with two profiles (different OU's) - one admin and one test student. However, the windows that do appear are different. One will display Drive contents only and one will display Drive and Team contents. Hope this helps.
,
Nov 9
The information in c#26 *may* explain the issue, and I forwarded it to the Drive team. Thanks for taking the time to collect it.
,
Nov 26
This is a SERIOUS problem for our users and needs a fix ASAP. Most of our students save videos into Google drive and then upload from there into WeVideo. This is severely hampering their efforts to record and edit video.
,
Nov 28
this is happening to me as well. Our school just purchased wevideo for google drive integration and we are unable to use it without it, please fix thank you.
,
Nov 29
I noticed the picker is in a cross-site (google.com) iframe when I tried the wevideo repro (I also couldn't repro locally). Would someone who's experiencing this issue please try opening chrome://flags/#site-isolation-trial-opt-out in a new tab, setting it to "Opt out", restarting Chrome, and reporting if that helps? It's unlikely, but I want to rule out the possibility of site isolation causing this (e.g., due to a race in Drive code that only manifests with OOPIFs).
,
Nov 29
I just tried that. It did not make a difference (see attached screenshot).
,
Nov 29
Oops, attached the wrong screenshot for comment #33.
,
Nov 29
OK, thanks for checking. I've pinged the internal bug for this and asked for an update from the Drive team.
,
Nov 29
Please fix this issue!
,
Nov 29
We push using Drive as much as possible in our school, so I'd love to see this issue with WeVideo fixed as soon as possible.
,
Nov 29
I will reiterate the same frustrations as other users: We push the use of Google Drive; We just renewed Wevideo and now it's broke; This gives credence that using cloud based devices is not good. PLEASE FIX THIS.
,
Nov 29
I am experiencing this same problem. For some reason last night I was able to connect after authentication and didn't get the white screen. I thought the problem was fixed. But I just tried again today and I got the white screen again. When I push ctrl+shift+i (as in comment 20) nothing comes up.
,
Dec 4
I complained about this issue before and it was resolved. Now I am having the same problem again and have a whole class of 8th grade students trying to work on a project that requires them to upload content from Drive. Please fix ASAP.
,
Dec 6
Our district is experiencing this exact issue. We cannot nail down a specific situation that causes the white screen. We are using the GAFE login. Our primary browser is Chrome, but we have tested it in IE and Edge as well. We have accounts for all of our teachers and secondary students, a total of 13,000 accounts. This needs to be resolved soon.
,
Dec 11
We're struggling with this at my school. It is inconsistent. Some teacher accounts work; some don't. Some student accounts work; some don't. I thought it was related to people who used more than one account to login to Chrome (or Drive?) but that doesn't seem to be it. I can't find a pattern between the different users.
,
Dec 12
Clearing browsing history in Chrome(cookies and images from all time)seems to work. I've done it several times and it works, for now. |
