Able to reproduce the issue on Mac 10.13.3, Win-10 and Ubuntu 17.10 using chrome reported version #66.0.3359.181 and latest canary #68.0.3438.0. This is a non-regression issue as it is observed from M60 old builds. Hence, marking it as untriaged to get more inputs from dev team. Thanks...!!

With a slash, this will try to connect to the hostname "google" on the network. Most networks won't have mapping for that hostname so the page won't be found. Same happens for other domains without their tlds - http://cnn/, http://facebook/ etc. I believe this is working as intended; double-checking off-thread and will reopen the bug if not, or if we want to add functionality to handle this case for (any) default search engine, etc. thanks for the report! |
