Cookies not working/updating correctly in chrome IOS mobile browser when accessing website

Reported by saleem...@gmail.com, May 19 2018

Issue description

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open page https://saleemkce.github.io/timeonsite/
2. Wait 5 seconds or more. Then refresh the page, "time on site" should not reset counters but should show updated value from cookie.

What is the expected behavior?
Time counters should update correctly instead of resetting in UI box.

What went wrong?
Don't know, seems to to problem with cookie.

Did this work before? N/A

Does this work in other browsers? No
When accessing webpage at https://saleemkce.github.io/timeonsite/ "time" counters keep updating in UI boxes. When the page is refreshed/reloaded, time on site box resets to 1. It seems to occur only in IPAD PRO in chrome 57 and other browsers like safari 10, dolphin 9 and opera mini 14 but works fine in Nexus and desktop browsers

How well does this work on the latest version of Chrome (which is version 66.*)?

This doesn't work on any iOS browser i've tested, Tried Safari, Chrome 66, Chrome 68 (with WKSystemCookies feature enabled and disabled). Assuming that the website working correctly, It seems to be a bug on the Apple WKCookieStore

a quick debugging to the webpage, TimeOnSiteTracker.prototype.renewSession seem to be setting cookie very frequently, A possible reason for the problem that WKCookieStore may be (i'm not sure) assuming that frequent setting of cookies (with 1s interval or less) is some kind of spamming, so they block it.

Should we file radar for this behavior?
I'll file one and update the crbug with the rdar number

Is there any progress in this issue? do we need to notify safari/ios developers about this issue so that they look into it quickly?

Clearing Needs-Feedback since it sounds like we're no longer waiting for an answer to comment #1.
