-Issue persists in incognito window and on an open network. -Issue happens only in Chrome Browser regardless of the OS. -CloudPrint connector is up-to-date. -Using the Ctrl + P does not change the behavior. -Using the print button in a page (for ex.: Gmail) does not change the behavior -Printers under Print destinations can be selected (which is a workaround for the customer) -Happening with the owner of the G Suite, Super Admin, a regular Admin, and a normal user. We were not able to reproduce the issue locally

Have you been able to reproduce this problem anywhere else besides with this particular customer? It's very difficult to fix and verify the fix for a problem, if the problem cannot be reproduced. If this happened in Chrome 62 beta, which was half a year ago, why didn't you raise the issue then? Do you know if Chrome 61 worked correctly?

Selecting a shared cloud printer works for me. Can the customer share one of the affected printers with me? If yes, then I can try with the shared printer and see if I can reproduce the problem. If the problem is reproducible, we can make progress and look into why it is happening.

Hi, Thank you for looking into this. I just spoke with the customer today and he is willing to share a printer. May I know which account would you like the customer to share the printer with? Thanks in advance. Best regs.

I noticed bug 787895 sounds similar to this one. However, the bug reporter there said the issue was fixed for them.

I tried printing from a Chromebook running 67.0.3396.87 to the printer shared with me and I can't reproduce the issue. After printing a blank print job, the shared Cloud printer is in the Recent Destinations list. When I selected it for another print job, it worked as expected.

If the customer can reproduce the issue, here's something to try the next time it happens: - Right click (alt-click on a Chromebook) on the unselectable destination - Select "Inspect" from the context menu - In the developer tools window that opens, select "Console" from near the top-left. - See if there are any messages on the console. - Close the window with the "X on the top-right to go back. rbpotter: Any thoughts on how this can happen?

Clarification question: What does "nothing happens" mean? Does the destinations dialog stay open, or does it close but not select the new printer? Assuming it stays open, there are a few things that can prevent the destination select event: - Printer looks like it is UNREGISTERED. If this is the case there should be a "Register" button showing up next to the printer name/description in the destinations dialog. - There is some other Chrome OS local printer that is being set up, which will cause selecting a different printer to fail. This should only be able to happen if the user has tried to select some other printer first. - Somehow this looks like a Chrome OS local printer or an extension printer, both of which have extra setup steps, and that setup is failing. Comment 15 is a good suggestion that may help with debugging this since we can't repro. I would suggest also keeping the developer tools window open and clicking on the unselectable destination, just to see if that causes any new logging messages to show up.

See the video in the initial bug report. It looks like clicking it generates no response from the UI.

We were never able to reproduce this issue. In Chrome 71, we completely revamped the Print Preview UI. Can the customer try with Chrome 71 and see if the problem still occurs?

This was created in relation to support case #15075202. Because the customer can't collect any further information towards this issue and is having issues reproducing it the case has been temporarily closed. This bug will be marked as Archived until the case is re-opened with more relevant customer data. |
