I added a workaround to stop a crash reported in https://crbug.com/837419 that I could not figure out how to reproduce:

Upon further investigation, it appears that the issue was already resolved at some point for the M67 branch (a single crash in 67.0.3375.0 is the only one we have reported in an M67 or later version). So we should probably clean up the workaround.
