For me the error still exists. I use the surface without the docked keyboard.

I attached a small movie. As you see the keyboard pops up shortly and closes the itself. Even if the keyboard was already open from the first input.

I checked now the following things:
- new profile: same things happen, all extensions deactivated
- a second surface: the same behavior

Able to reproduce the issue on reported chrome version# 66.0.3359.181 and on latest chrome# 68.0.3436.0 using Windows-10 surface pro. As the issue is seen from M-60(60.0.3112.0), hence considering this as Non-Regression and marking it as Untriage.

Thanks!
Any information when this bug will be fixed?
I need to give feedback to our customer.
Any news on that issue as it seems still to be not fixed? We are planning to roll out application to customers using Surface Pro, but with that bug we are blocked :-(

Hi All,

This bug occurred with the latest Windows Creator update (Windows build 1803) which appears to introduce an updated keyboard.

The versions where Chrome works correctly is where the keyboard is black. In the newer (broken) versions the keyboard is a gray color.

The bug where the keyboard doesn't show up is reproducible across all websites. I can even go to gmail.com and type in my email to login, but cannot get the keyboard to popup for the password field.

We have about 500 clients using Surface Pro's and Chrome, and slowly one-by-one their Windows updated to the creator's update and we got reports about the keyboard not appearing for a password field. We were able to reproduce these bug reports as soon as we updated our own Windows to 1803.

This problem does not occur in Firefox or Edge. I suspect it should be recreatable across any touchscreen Windows 10 device, not just a surface pro.

Let me know if you need any other information
Any update on this? It's super easy to reproduce on the latest Windows 10 with a touch screen, and happens only in Chrome. Not Firefox or Edge.
We are also experiencing the same problem with tablets in Kiosk mode on our network. No keyboard attached and touching text input is fine, such as usernames but it disappears as soon as any password field is touched. I can also confirm that it happened immediately after upgrading to 1803. We tested this in other browsers and couldn't replicate it, it seems to only be an issue with Chrome.
Hi all,

would it be possible to at least tell us if you will fix that and a bit more details about the current progress?

This issue happens in our UWP application as well. Does anyone know if is there a fix for this?

Happens both on <input type="password" /> & <textarea/> field
It appears this was fixed with Chrome 68 and later
Does anyone have an idea how to fix this problem? That would be much appreciated.
it is still not fixed, I have two nearlly identical Surface, only the Windows version is different:

1. Company Surface Pro 2017 with Chrome 70.0.3538.110 running on Windows 10 Enterprise 1709, the onscreen keyboard is popping up if I touch a text field, it is working normal.

but on my private devices I have big issues, I tried all mods but nothing is working:

2. a Surface 3 where the windows version is 1809 and the same Chrome version, the on screen keyboard is not popping up if I touch a text field

3. a brand new Surface 6 Pro with Windows 10 1803 and Chrome 70m the onscreen keyboard is not popping up

so it should be a issue linked to the April update... but it is really ugly... pls try to provide a solution

Im running on a Surface Go and Chrome 71.0.3578.80 and can confirm that the issue still exists. The Keyboard opens up on text input but not on type="password"
