Chromium crashes when 'Load Media Router Component Extension' is enabled, but cannot cast without it

Reported by mbwdo...@gmail.com, May 11 2018

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. chrome://flags>enable 'Load Media Router Component Extension'
2. start Chromium
3.

What is the expected behavior?
Chromium starts with 'Load Media Router Component Extension' enabled

What went wrong?
Chromium crashes with 'Load Media Router Component Extension' enabled.

Chromium will NOT cast without this extension enabled. The cast window will display "No cast destinations found."

So there is no way to cast using Chromium without it crashing.

WebStore page: n/a

Did this work before? Yes unknown

Chrome version: Chromium 65.0.3325.181 Fedora Project Channel: stable
OS Version: 28
Flash Version: Disabled

This appears to be a known issue at least on the debian side (https://askubuntu.com/questions/932016/chromium-crashes-as-soon-as-i-log-in; https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=882698). But whatever fixes were implemented did not remedy it. Casting cannot be performed in Chromium without ''Load Media Router Component Extension' and enabling ''Load Media Router Component Extension' crashes the browser.
