[Googler Mobile Feedback] Media automatically plays when autoplay is off |
||||
Issue descriptionFiling this issue from the buganizer - b/79372356 Tested the issue in Android and able to reproduce the issue. Prerequisites - Disable 'Autoplay' from Chrome Settings >> Site Settings >> Media >> Autoplay Steps Followed: 1. Launch Chrome. 2. Navigate to any URL - cnn.com/politics and tap on a link which has video in it. 3. Observed that in the link selected, video plays without any user action to play video. Chrome versions tested: 66.0.3359.158(Stable), 68.0.3425.0(Canary) OS: Android 8.1.0 Android Devices: Pixel 2 XL Using the per-revision bisect providing the bisect results, Good Build - 65.0.3299.0 (524906) Bad Build - 65.0.3300.0 (525555) You are looking for a change made after 524986(GOOD), but before 524987(BAD). CHANGELOG URL: The script might not always return single CL as suspect as some perf builds might get missing due to failure. https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/7b74ab4850b0115a996f0076733bc90fc7f8a273 @mlamouri: Could you please look into the issue, pardon me if it has nothing to do with your changes and if possible please assign it to owner concerned. Thanks!

Since this is a recent regression, can we target a fix for M68?

This is actually on purpose. We changed the autoplay policy so that single page applications and multi-page applications will behave the same. We were expecting such changes but in practice a website can autoplay when a link is clicked depending on how it is architectured.
