On-screen keyboard inoperative on Pixelbook |
|||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: 65.0.3325.209 OS: Chrome What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Flip the Pixelbook into a tablet format. (2) Tap in a text field, such as an e-mail draft. (3) The on-screen Chrome keyboard appears. Start typing. The UX of the keyboard functions, but does not send output to the text field. What is the expected result? The on-screen keyboard should allow you to type. What happens instead? There is no output from the keyboard to the text field. Also, when you switch to the cursor control using the icons on the left or right of the keyboard, the virtual touchpad does not move a mouse cursor in any visible way Note: this was noticed by dsouther@google.com. Fast user switching to a non-corp Google account made the keyboard start working again with the new account, and after switching back to corp it continued to work, so we cannot obtain logs of this happening at the moment, unfortunately. If it happens, he'll attach logs.

This is happening again. I arrived at my desk, and flipped my pixelbook open into the Tent stand, with the screen facing me. It timed out waiting for login, and then when I press the power button, the login Password field displays and the onscreen keyboard is present, but with the behavior described above.

Could be related to 841112. If this happens again, could you please go to chrome://inspect, click Extensions, find "Chrome OS XKB", then click "inspect". This should bring up a devtools window. When you click on the "Console" tab, let me know if you see any red errors involving "SendKey" (like the screenshot in 841112). Thanks!

Hi David, is this issue still happening on your machine?

This is quite an old version, closing as WontFix since we're not sure if it still reproduces. Please file a new bug if you encounter this bug again. Thanks. |
