Adding this from the CBC topic and I think Gabriel could provide the logs from the USB recovery as well. As requested I tried it with a different USB stick loading the current image (ie, whatever is provided by default by Chromebook Recovery Utility). As before it rebooted a few times before I could try installing the recovery image (or even hit tab to read the error) but eventually it tried and gave the same error as before "The security module on this device is not working." Here is the message: HWID: GANDOF D25-A4G-B3Q-A2G recovery_reason: 0x02 recovery button pressed VbSD.flags: 0x00006c60 NbNv.raw: 60 00 00 00 00 02 1c 00 00 fe ff 00 00 ff ff ad dev_boot_usb: 0 dev_boot_legacy: 0 dev_boot_signed_only: 0 TPM: fwver: 0x00000000 kernver=0x00000000 gbb.flags: 0x00000000 gbb.rootkey: 154512de86cc1cc36a67d4225eb2fcc37dac1b7c gbb.recovery_key: bf0c3210e81cc61e31d56cc002267f8024dcdc59 read-only firmware id: Google_Gandof.6301.155.9 active firmware id: Google_gandof.6301.155.9

Thanks for filing the issue! As mentioned in steps to reproduce the problem in comment#0, this issue seems to be related to chromebook, hence adding appropriate OS label to it. Thanks!
