Launching images/PDFs from Files app launches Google Keep Chrome app |
||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: 66.0.3359.137 OS: Chrome 1. Launch Files app and find a .png or .pdf file 2. Double-click the file Expected: Image viewer opens, or PDF opens in a Chrome tab Actual: Google Keep (Chrome app version) opens. This doesn't display the file, which isn't surprising because AFAIK Keep is not an image or PDF viewer. Right-clicking on the file in Files shows two options at the top: * Open with Google Keep [Internal Only] CORP * More actions... Clicking "More actions..." opens a "More actions..." dialog where the only option is "Keep". This option opens the Keep ARC++ app (which still doesn't display PDFs or image files). Can you check/change the default app for opening png/pdf by selecting the file in files app and then clicking the open drop down at the top? (See attached image and link) https://www.howtogeek.com/310576/how-to-change-the-default-apps-on-your-chromebook/

After updating to 67, the issue doesn't reproduce. Images and PDFs open in Viewer and Chrome, respectively. For images, the "Open" button in Files doesn't have a dropdown menu. For PDFs, the dropdown menu includes: * Open with Gallery (default) * Open with Google Keep [Internal Only] CORP Keep is acting weird, since I have both the ARC++ and Chrome apps installed. Dunno if that's related.

Stuart, could you explain why this is WontFix? The Files app was in a state where it wasn't opening images in Gallery or launching PDFs in a Chrome tab. It might be worth at least checking what code paths could cause that kind of breakage, if we can't repro directly.

We've made fixes to the file intent behaviour in M67, so this bug was probably fixed as part of that. Since we can't reproduce this, marking this bug as WontFix since its now WAI.
