Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Every time the chrome browser is launched at the beginning time. What is the expected behavior? Even if this pop up appears for a particular reason , When i click on cancel button is wont close . I have to click on cancel button more than thrice to close it.This makes it very uncomfortable since i need to do this each time its launched. Also a way has to be there to recover if someone has forgotten this key ! What went wrong? Firstly This pop up appears each time Chrome browser is launched(lets says this is expected due to some user move) Issue one : The Cancel Button does not work for a single click. I have to press at least more than thrice to close this pop up. Issue Two : Some way must be there to unlock this if you forget the login keyring. Issue There : This is a major issue , even if i uninstall chrome and again install it freshly this issue happens!! This means that file is not deleted even after uninstalling chrome. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 65.0.3325.181 (Official Build) (64-bit) Channel: n/a OS Version: CentOS Linux release 7.2.1511 Flash Version:

Chrome needs the Keyring unlocked to function properly. Adding cfroussios@ to comment

The prompts are produced by GNOME Keyring, which is a separate service on your machine and not owned by Chrome. Chrome uses it to store passwords and encryption keys. Chrome will always try to offer the best protection possible, therefore it will always try to access its encryption keys on start. I recommend that you either unlock Keyring when asked, or that you set your Keyring to unlock automatically. The reason why there are multiple prompts is because you have multiple passwords saved with Chrome. Unfortunately, Keyring produces one prompt for each password that Chrome tries to read. This will be solved with issue 571003 As for someone forgetting the password to their Keyring, that is out of Chrome's responsibility, not the least because Chrome doesn't own the keyring. If you need to reset your keyrings, you can run a program called Seahorse https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Seahorse and use it to create a new keyring and set it as the default one. Chrome always uses the default Keyring. |
