I have a Huawei P9 Lite (VNS-L31) with Android 7.0 and my patch level is "1. March 2018". I have the same problem as described above: When I click on "Sign in" I only have the option to add a new Google account to the phone. I can't choose between the registered account(s) on the phone, like in other Apps. But also when I remove my account from the phone, I can add it via chrome, so it's usable on other apps (except chrome).

Tested the issue using #66.0.3359.126 on Nexus 6P and could not reproduce the issue as per the steps mentioned below.

Steps:
1. Launched Browser
2. Navigated to sign in Chrome page
3. Able to Sign in, no such error message is seen.

Requesting MTV team to check the issue on Huawei P9 Lite as device isn't available at our end.

Thanks!!
Hi. Same problem on P20 Pro. Can't login.

Was there an update of the PlayServices? Because over night the issue resolved for me.
I can confirm bug exists also in Honor 6X phone model BLN-L21-B372 with Chrome standard, Beta, Canary.
If I try to sign in, before the email, the system ask me the device password unlock, then inserting the email/gmail it answers "the account is already in the system".

Comment 10 by sebkn...@gmail.com, May 11 2018

I have to revert my latest comment, because after another restart it doesn't work.
I can also confirm the issue on the following device and system:

Honor 5c with Android 7.0, EMUI 5.0.1, the Android security patch level of March 1, 2018 and Chrome in version 66.0.3359.158.

Thank you!
Same bug on the Huawei P10 lite

I´ve it slightly different.

When using "Google Assistent" APP and go into OK Google and tell "play my spotify playlist.." it tell me i need connect Spotify in Google Assistent settings, when i click to go into settings, it fails loading setting. I can go manual to settings, but when i click "connect to spotify" it will also fail (no error message) and not work.
I´ve a Huawei P20 Pro
Issue 841748 has been merged into this issue.
I had the same problem on my Huawei P9 Lite device.
Besides this, I've always gotten a message 'Google play services are updating' when I had used an app that uses a google map view (Beeline app for example: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.beeline&hl=de).

After resetting the google play services (means deactivating the play service in the global Android app settings, what will lead to a downgrade of the google play service 'app'), I'was able to sign in at my android chrome app again and the Beeline app works again too.

Now Google play services are updated to vers.12.6.73 again on my phone and till now, things are going well.

Maybe the Chrome sign in problems are related to the google play service problem too. See the current Google Play Service comments at Google Play Store. Some user have some trouble with this service after the last update.

NOTE: I do not advise deactivating the google play service cause I don't know whether there are any side effects or not, but for me this seems to work.

I haven't reboot my phone, maybe the problem will come back after a reboot.

Hope this info will help a little bit
I have the same problem with the latest Huawei P20 pro, just installed the brand new phone

Comment 18 by sebkn...@gmail.com, May 11 2018

I can confirm #13. It fails (Logcat) with the same exception as the login problem.

From issue 841748 looks related to GMS Core bsazonov@, can you please take a look
Addendum:
My wife have just had the same issue on her Huawei P Smart phone. Sign in at Chrome did not work and no maps at a car finder app but a 'Google play service are updating' message instead of the map view.
Deleting all data at the google play service app settings solved her problem too.
Take a deeper look at google play service

After clean play services it also works for me
Same issue with Huawei Nova 2i Android 7 (EMUI 5.1). Downgrading to GPS 12.5.29 works, but not an ideal solution because it will auto update to 12.6.73 again on idle/restart.

GPS issue not only affect Chrome, it also affect Google Assistant, Google Play Books and DBS Paylah!. I posted reproduce steps, log files by "adb logcat", screen recordings and generated bug reports in [0].

From [1], a lot of Android developers confirm that many Huawei phone on Android 7 are getting crash on their apps due to GPS 12.6.73.

Thanks for the updates. After our initial investigation from the comment #43 bugreports, the failure is from Google Play services.
Previously, the problem was with Android cast SDK and we released a fix as we discussed in previous posts.

From comment #43 bug reports, the issue happens with Google Playbooks, Chrome and Assistant which shows that the issue is not with Cast SDK.
ClassLoader referenced unknown path: /data/user_de/0/com.google.android.gms/app_chimera/m/00000014/DynamiteLoader_GmsCore_prodmnc_xxhdpi_release.apk

We are working with Google Play Services and will provide updates as they are available.

Spero al più presto! Huawei P20 Errore Chrome "Questo account esiste già sul tuo dispositivo"!
Same issue with Huawei P9
EMUI 5.0.1
Android 7.0
security patch level of March 1, 2018
Chrome Version 66.03359.158
Same here on Huawei P9 Lite and EMUI 5.0.1 last update, Chrome 66.03359.158. Weird is that I do not seem to have Play Services installed.
Rectifying - Play Services was not visible if not under the Settings-App menu

Comment 28 by s.tak...@gmail.com, May 13 2018

Also confirm huawei P9 lite issue here

Comment 29 by s.tak...@gmail.com, May 13 2018

Since I cannot rewrite my comment, for the dev's the problem is on the: p9 lite, emu: 5.0.1 chrome: 66.0.3359.158. And also google home does not recognise my account in google home. I see no account nor picture there.

It is really annoying cause the wife and I cannot access our google chromecast.

Comment 30 by mpa...@gmail.com, May 13 2018

Same issue on a Mate 9. Yesterday starting Chrome got a request to sign-in again without doing nothing. Since then can't login. I go settings, see message to sign-in to an account, press sign-in, get to confirm PIN, put it and seems to work but then I'm pushed to a screen to put my email or phone or create account. I put my account but always get "this account already exists in this device" error message.

I did lots of things like delete cache, all Chrome data, disable sign-in using mobile phone; nothing worked. And now I don't have my bookmarks, passwords, history...

Comment 31 Deleted

To all readers, tip is: uninstall Google Play Services; log in on Chrome;
renistall.

Worked for me.

I can confirm that i have the same issue on my Huawei Honor 6X. The issue seems to be in the Google Play Services and Google App itself. I have tried going back and forth between STABLE and BETA versions of the app and on 1 version instance of the Google App(Stable) fixed the problem but Google updated it again and now both BETA and STABLE versions of the app is causing issues with G Suite apps like Android Messages (RCS Functionality), Wear OS Manager, Drive, Keep, Chrome and other Google apps that have dependencies on the Google Play Services Framework.

I can confirm comment 33 same here.

After have found the problem I reverted to the original versions either Chrome and GPS.
I shutted down and then restarted the phone.
It update both apps immediately after and then I was able to sign in to Google within the Chrome app. Before to do so I opened www.google.com and logged there too.
My phone is a Huawei Nova 2.
Hope this helps.
After updating Google Play Services, my authentication is broken again. Chrome asks for my password.
Issue still present on Huawei P9.
Chrome 66.0.3359.158
Chrome asks for account login then complains about the account already existing.
Other Google products are still logged in as expected (maps, mail, groups, g+, hangouts etc.)
Interestingly Facebook required a full login (I guess a chrome update breaks the login cookie, which is understandable)
Updated Google Play Services earlier this week (apps with embedded Google maps failed to display map) which may have a bearing on this bug.

Comment 39 by triba...@gmail.com, May 14 2018

Issue on Honor 8,
FRD L09
EMUI 5.0.1
Android 7.0
Chrome 66.0.3359.158
Google Play Services 12.6.73

Workaround was to clear cache and data in Google Play Services.

Comment 41 by s.tak...@gmail.com, May 14 2018

After playing around with some suggestions on the interwebz and some mentioned here I have some new info.

Phone settings --> Apps --> 'google play services' --> Storage --> Clear Cache _and_ manage Space --> Clear all data it starts working again.

However if I reboot it is the same shit again. If you then clear cache and data _again_ it works again and so on. Can someone confirm?

Comment 42 by fra6...@gmail.com, May 14 2018

After my comment (36) I shutted down the phone.
This morning the issue popped up again at the start up.

Comment 50 by triba...@gmail.com, May 15 2018

NINGUNA SOLUCION? NO HAY AUN ACTUALIZACION QUE SOLUCIONE?
Same here, this morning I was shocked to see it signed out again..

Comment 52 by triba...@gmail.com, May 15 2018

Todo mal,sigue igual....solucion ya...????cuando???
A work around appears to be to give chrome permission to see phone contacts.

This work around applies to Android 7 on a Huawei P9...

Force stop chrome
Enable contacts access
Start Chrome
Login
Disable access to contacts

This lasts until the phone restarts.

I have not tested it, but leaving access to contacts enabled might let the
Chrome login survive the Reboot?

Comment 54 by triba...@gmail.com, May 16 2018

Hay que dejar habilitado el permiso de contacto en el chrome(buscar cuentas en el dispositivo)es lo unico que hace. Y asi funciona sin problema el chrome.
So, I tried "Comment 53 by benmott...@gmail.com" advice, and its working for me, though if I disable acccess to contacts, Chrome immediately logs me out and I have to log in again, resulting in the same error.
 Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite10
 BAH-W09 Build
 Emui-Version 5.1
 Android-Version 7.0
 Chrome 66.0.3359.158

Thanks again!
I tried "Comment 53 by benmott...@gmail.com" advice, and its working for me.

It survive the Reboot after leaving access to contacts enabled .

Huawei Nova with Android7.0
Same here, tried "Comment 53 by benmott...@gmail.com"

Works perfectly! Thank you!!

Also as suggested by comment 58, leaving access to contacts survives restart.

Huawei p9 with Android 7.

Thanks again
It looks like Google Play services team has pushed an update that should fix the issue (see c#43 for the details). Keeping this open to make sure the fix actually helped.

Comment 61 by s.tak...@gmail.com, May 24 2018

I noticed too.

Turned off my phone by accident and was ready to go through the 'restore'
process to find out everything was like it should be.
Thanks for the report! Glad to hear that your problem was resolved.

Sorry for the inconvenience!
I can confirm that the issue has been resolved and i hope everyone on this thread had their issues resolved too running Huawei's EMUI Firmware. Kudos to the bsazonov and Google Play Services team for actively helping the community. Thanks a lot and have a nice day!
