Issue description
Chrome Version : 67.0.3396.18
OS Version: 10.0
URLs (if applicable) :
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
Safari:
Firefox:
IE/Edge:
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. View HTML5 video (mp4) in the browser
2. New style is too small (23" 4k monitor, 200% display scaling)
What is the expected result?
Easy to scrub the video. No interference with the video content.
What happens instead of that?
The pause button obscures the video content for too long. Should be a way to turn that off permanently. The scrubber bar is too thin, so too much clicking around to advance the video position.
Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

oren@ Thanks for the issue. As this issue is observed on 4k monitor and this is not available at TE end to test this further, adding TE-Hardware-Dependency label for further help in triaging the issue. Thanks..

Some additional feedback on the scrubber bar: even if the UI was untouched, I think increasing the active click area above and below the narrow band would help a lot. Right now, it's hard to correctly and consistently hit the target using a mouse.

steimel, please see tap target guidance for scrubber in control spec, this should address the scrubbing issue. Let's double check the show/hide animation against the spec too, it looks like it may be a little out of sequence/slower than intended.

Would it be too much to ask if a feature flag could be added to toggle between the new/existing control? Is that possible?

Thanks for the feedback! A feature flag actually already exists for this (chrome://flags/#enable-modern-media-controls) Also, amyroberts@, this feedback is from an earlier version of the new controls, the latest does a lot to take care of the scrubber difficulty and also makes the pause button go away sooner, so AFAICT this bug should be fixed in canary at least. Closing but feel free to reopen if what's on Canary does not take care of all concerns. |
