Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/64.0.3269.3 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: Easy to try: 1. Search Google for Unicode code point F0B6 (this -><-) 2. Open some tabs to the right of the Google tab 3. Try switching tabs - note occasional short freezes 4. Close Google tab 5. Note no more freezes when switching tabs What is the expected behavior? There should be no freezes, especially on unrelated tabs, when a page with an unusual Unicode character is opened. What went wrong? When a "bad" tab with this character (unicode F0B6) in the URL is opened, some parts of the UI occasionally freeze for a short time. Specifically: - Omnibar freezes when typing this character - Omnibar freezes when suggestions show up with this character - Tabs freeze when opened/closed (especially to the right side of the "bad" tab) Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 64.0.3269.3 Channel: dev OS Version: Arch Linux Flash Version: don't know Minimal test case: - Create a file with named testtest.txt (note unicode F0B6 between the "test" words) with arbitrary content - Open this file in Chrome (same effect as Google page) Many other characters are no problem: - Try with a file named test🐟test.txt Other applications on my system are not affected: - Firefox has no issues, but prints the character as a rectangle with the hex code - Nautilus has no issues and prints the character the same way as Chrome (zero width)
