Dropdown menu shift up to selected value

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_4) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/66.0.3359.139 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Go to https://bootstrapdocs.com/v3.3.5/docs/css/#selects
2. Click the dropdown box
3. Select 3
4. Click the dropdown box again

What is the expected behavior?
dropdown menu show always above or below the dropdown box

What went wrong?
dropdown menu shift up to select value

This is the expected behavior on Mac: menus align themselves with the selected item. I know that some websites choose to implement their own menus to get more customization, but the default one should be the least surprising to users :-).
