Pasting a link into the address bar relocates me to totally other link from my browsing history

Reported by hanaki...@gmail.com, Apr 27 2018

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_4) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/65.0.3325.181 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
We have found out about this bug on a specific page, that's why I am using a specific URLs, but you can reproduce this bug on any other page.

This bug is caused due to the browsing history, so please, do not use anonymous mode.

1. Visit any page without a query_string parameters, e.g.: https://www.kontentino.com/signup (this link gets saved into your browsing history)
2. Visit the same link again with some query string parameters, e.g.: https://www.kontentino.com/signup?utm_source=some_random_utm (it gets saved into your browsing history again)
3. copy the previously visited link with query_string into the clipboard
https://www.kontentino.com/signup?utm_source=some_random_utm
4. Within a new tab, visit the same page without query string again, https://www.kontentino.com/signup
5. now, focus address bar, for example with CMD+L
6. paste the link into the field
7. a couple of suggestions from the browsing history appear - first of them should be a website without query string visited previously, and one of them should be this same webpage, but with query_string

This is where the problem arises.

Even though I pasted a url with query_string into the address bar, I have highlighted a url without query string and when I press enter, it gets me not to the URl I have just pasted, but to the url randomly selected from browsing history"

What is the expected behavior?

What went wrong?
When I pasted a URL with a query string into the address bar and pressed enter to enter the location, it get me not to my URL I have just pasted, but to antother URL from my browsing history.

Did this work before? Yes I do not know exactly, but I am sure I have not experienced such issues half a year ago :)

How strange. I have some ideas, but I need help confirming.

Can you please submit chrome://omnibox output for the string shown in that screenshot. Check both the “show all details” and “show results per provider” boxes. This will help us figure out what's going on.

Feel free to paste the results in here unformatted; we’ll be able to decipher them.

If you want, you can delete all the other URLs except for the ones with that exact URL. I simply need to see what provider(s) are suggesting the URL, with what scores, and why it's not shown up as default.

thanks,
mark

hanakivan@, it looks like you've given me the chrome://omnibox output for "https://www.kontentino.com/signup"? Is that right? When you paste "https://www.kontentino.com/signup" into the omnibox, do you see the weird behavior? (If so, a screenshot would help.)

I need chrome://omnibox for the time when you see the weird behavior...

(Also, next time please check both the “show all details” and “show results per provider” boxes.)

thanks,
mark
