Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:56.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/56.0 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1.Load a simple extension with "console.log" inside ( I provide one attached) 2. Load a page and use the extension for a simple search on the page 3. Go back to the chrome://extensions/ page. What is the expected behavior? There should be no error in the chrome://extensions/ page. What went wrong? There is bogus errors in the chrome://extensions page where it is a simple "console.log(result);" Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: Chrome version: 66.0.3359.117 (Build officiel) (32 bits) Channel: stable OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2) Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 28.0 r0 Here's a screencast to have a better understanding if the problem: http://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cFfOVabIh2 It seem it is an old problem from at least 2016 that was not reported: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/41190730/chrome-extensions-page-errors-display-seems-to-contain-bogus-errors

@phanindra.mandapaka@chromium.org Sorry I forgot to tell you to use Chromium (not Chrome) and please and enable "Collect Errors" on chrome://extensions/ https://i.imgur.com/euJ0eXC.png Also in chrome://flags/ Disable "Material Design extensions" like this https://i.imgur.com/Zja22Wf.png Like @woxxom@gmail.com it could be a duplicate but it happen on the stable relaese of Chromium not the beta. I would suggest to name it warning instead of errors and put htem in Yellow jiglight not in Red cause at first I was really thinking there was an errors somewhere. Also I did not find any documentation about this feature in the documentation or with Google even if it seem to be a few years old, it would be a very good idea to put some documentation about this feature ("Collect Errors") and how to use it. If you need any more information just ask me 😊 Regards.

As per comment #4, the issue seems to be a feature request as it is a suggestion to put enable "Collect Errors" on chrome://extensions/ in yellow highlight and not in red and also to put documentation about this feature ("Collect Errors"). Hence, marking it as untriaged for further inputs from dev team.
Thanks...!!

Yeah, the "errors" terminology is a bit confusing. We've relaxed what's collected to just include warnings and errors, and not logs, as part of 837401. I think that largely addresses this, but let me know if not! |
