Refresh key won't work with apps made using Chrome App Builder |
||||
Issue descriptionChrome Version: 65.0.3325.209 Chrome OS Version: 10323.67.0 Official build stable Chrome OS Platform: Tested with HP 11 G5 setzer and Dell 13 lulu Network info: Fully open network Steps To Reproduce: (1) Make an app using Chrome App Builder (2) Publish the app (3) Install the app and browse (4) Try to reload the page with the physical key and won't reload (5) Try to reload the page with the Reload button in the UI and it will work Expected Result: The key should work and reload the page, just like back and forward keys do. Actual Result: If the page needs to be reloaded, just the Reload button in the app will work, the reload key won't work. How frequently does this problem reproduce? Always, this is reproducible locally using previous and future versions of Chrome OS and App Builder. What is the impact to the user, and is there a workaround? Since the app is used for student pick up times, pages must be reloaded constantly, the reload UI button can be used but the physical key is more convenient once they have finished filling some typing fields. Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screen shot or log if possible. Chrome App Builder v.1.0.3 updated March 2018

Removing enterprise label - this isn't an enterprise thing. Don't have a great owner, but cc'ing devlin in case he does since this is extensions/apps related.

This sounds like it's specific to the Chrome App Builder. If I'm reading this correctly, it's saying that the refresh key doesn't work in the context of the Chrome app, but that hitting the refresh button (which is part of the App's UI, not Chrome's) does. That's pretty much WAI, I think - I'm pretty sure we intentionally don't refresh Chrome apps on hitting the refresh key, and doing so for all Chrome Apps would likely cause issues. Instead, it sounds like the Chrome App should be listening for the key event and implementing this behavior themselves. If I misunderstood, please let me know. A screencast of the issue might also be useful in diagnosing. +benwells@ as well for Apps.

Devlin's correct, Chrome Apps do not support refresh out of the box, the app has to hook this up if it is something it wants. If this means there is something wrong with the Chrome App builder you should file a bug on it. I don't know where the Chrome App builder is maintained. |
