Issue descriptionChrome Version: 67.0.3396.19 (Official Build) Revision f9749cbb3cc57d4e681900e972801b141175efbf-refs/branch-heads/3396@{#277} (32/64 bit) OS: Win (7, 8, 8.1, 10), Mac (10.12.6, 10.13.1, 10.13.5) and Linux (14.04 LTS). Test URL: https://www.wikia.com/signin?redirect=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wikia.com%2Ffandom Pre-condition: Navigate to above URL and create an account. Steps to reproduce: 1. Launch chrome, navigate to above URL and sign-in in your account. 2. Save the password and sign-out from your account. 3. Now try to sign-in again on above URL and observe the username text field. Actual Result: Ghost text appears overlapped with the autofilled username. Expected Result: Ghost text should not appear overlapped with the autofilled username. This is Regression issue broken in 'M-65’ and using the per-revision bisect providing the bisect results, Good Build: 65.0.3318.0 (Revision: 528542) Bad Build: 65.0.3319.0 (Revision: 528844) You are probably looking for a change made after 528715 (known good), but no later than 528716 (first known bad). Thanks for filling this bug! I confirm that the suspected CL https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/33642ab33b8e98d381045b35c1af66282ef6acb4 is the culprit. But that CL is correct, it stops revealing the saved username to the site till user gesture happens, so the site has no idea that Chrome fills username/password and that's why it shows text. That improves user privacy. When the user clicks somewhere the username is revealed and the ghost test is disappeared (that can be seen on the video). If the site used a placeholder attribute (eg. <input type="text" placeholder="username">) than everything would work correctly. |
