Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:58.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/58.0 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Launch chrome on Windows 10 x64 with Nvidia GPU 2. Run example at https://sergeyext.github.io/sergeyext/flicker_vbo.html What is the expected behavior? Static red-green-yellow square should be displayed. What went wrong? The square flickers with unstable frequency. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 66.0.3359.117 Channel: stable OS Version: 10.0.16299 Flash Version: disabled The bug was observed only in Chrome under Windows 10 x64 with the following GPUs: GeForce GTX 650 Ti, driver version 390.77 GeForce GTX 950M, driver version 376.54 GeForce GTX 950M, driver version 397.31 Couldn't reproduce the bug in the following environments: - Chrome, Windows 10 x64, Intel GPU - Firefox, Windows 10 x64, Nvidia GPU - Chrome and Firefox, Linux x64, Nvidia GPU Adding more uniform and in/out variables to shaders may change bug's appearance or completely solve it. Example: replacing texCoord = v; with texCoord = v * 1.00001; in vertex shader solves the problem. Flicker frequency increases when mouse is hovered over tabs bar. Observed since at least Chrome 43 r321781 (it required "--enable-unsafe-es3-apis"). Canary too. Windows 7.

Seems like an NVIDIA-specific shader issue.

Can't reproduce on the following Windows 10, NVIDIA GPU configuration. kbr@, your gpu log is for AMD not nVidia :)

I could reproduce this on GeForce GTX 970 and also GeForce GTX 1080 on Windows 10 64-bit, at least on driver versions 391.01 and 397.31. Both latest Canary (68.0.3409.2) and stable Chrome are affected. Does not reproduce on Firefox. Seems to be specific to NVIDIA DirectX driver or how Chrome interacts with it.
,
Apr 27 2018
Ah, I forgot I switched my Windows workstation to an AMD GPU some time ago. Sorry for the confusion. Olli, will you be able to help diagnose this?
,
Apr 30 2018
I'll work on this. One problem I'm having right now is that I'm unable to run Chrome in single-process mode on my workstation. I'll need to solve that to be able to use some graphics debugging tools.
,
Apr 30 2018
Single process mode is usually broken. Is it not enough to use --disable-gpu-sandbox and --gpu-startup-dialog? Another one that could be useful is --gpu-launcher. In the past I have had some success with RenderDoc using only --disable-gpu-sandbox, as it has an option to trace subprocesses that seems to work.

another sample small sample http://jsfiddle.net/greggman/bmc7qjzy/ I can repo the bug in Firefox, Windows 10, NVidia 1060 Can not repo on same machine, Firefox, Windows 10, Intel 630 So I don't think it's is a Chrome bug. It's possible it's an ANGLE bug but since it's working on Intel that certainly makes it seem like an NVidia bug. Note that I tried making a simple OpenGL sample in C++ and no problem. That's to be expected since both Firefox and Chrome are using ANGLE via DX11 for their WebGL2 support

Thanks for the fiddle Gregg. I can reproduce this in a standalone ANGLE environment in NVIDIA. Link to CL here: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/angle/angle/+/1165303 The issue seems to only affect D3D11. In order to reproduce build ANGLE with that CL applied and run angle_end2end_tests --gtest_filter=GLSLTest_ES3.Flat/ES3_D3D11 and move the mouse around while the sample is running. The issue may not reproduce when not moving the mouse. It also seems to disappear when adding ReadPixels commands so isn't so easy to test automatically. Maybe this will help you send a repro case Olli.

can not confirm the observation made by gregg here is just an other test: https://jsfiddle.net/nabr/xknb0sqw/ For me it feels like their a difference how Chrome initialize the Draw Buffer

Olli's leaving NVIDIA, so adding Kimmo as CC: on this bug which is apparently NVIDIA- and Windows-specific.
,

I have a similar issue, again windows 10 x64 with latest nvidia drivers. I cant provide a code sample for now but here is a screen capture side by side with firefox. Flickering may stop or increase when moving the mouse, especially over the browser tabs. This issue occurs when I try to use flat shading. Looks like it changes which vertex is considered last. Hope this helps, I may provide code later if requested.
,
Oct 22
Can we try to figure out whether this is a bug in ANGLE or NVIDIA's D3D driver, and if the latter, get a small repro in NVIDIA's hands for diagnosis? Is there any way to reproduce this in a WebGL conformance test, even if it's a stressful test and does a lot of repeated rendering?
,
Oct 23
I'll try to repro and post jmadill's ANGLE GL test forward. Likely it would need a plain D3D repro..
