"Blocky" visual corruption in videos on nyan_big

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS armv7l 10323.67.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/65.0.3325.209 Safari/537.36
Platform: 10323.67.0 (Official Build) stable-channel nyan_big

Example URL:

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. View a video embedded in a webpage (e.g. at  issue 836467 )
2. Notice that the video is blocky/pixelated

What is the expected behavior?
Videos should be displayed properly.

What went wrong?
Some videos are extremely blocky/pixelated, to the point of being unwatchable.

Does it occur on multiple sites: N/A

Is it a problem with a plugin? N/A 

Did this work before? N/A 

Does this work in other browsers? N/A

Chrome version: 65.0.3325.209  Channel: stable
OS Version: 10323.67.0
Flash Version: 29.0.0.113

This doesn't seem to happen on YouTube (but I think it has in the past -- maybe it happens on some videos but not others?)

Seems like scaled video playback issue...
Agree. The encoded resolution of that video is 1920 x 1200, and down scaling reduces to be roughly 1/4 that size. 

anowlcalledjash@ - does the video look crisp if you show it in fullscreen mode?

Sorry, I've not been using my Chromebook much recently – I'll try to reproduce it over the weekend, but videos seem to be working fine so far (67.0.3396.87).
#2: I do remember the problem persisting even in fullscreen mode.

Closing as Not Repro.  The problems seems to have been fixed.
Please can this be reopened? It's not fixed – I've now managed to reproduce on 71.0.3578.94 (platform 11151.59.0).
The issue does persist even in fullscreen mode.

Is this regression? Reading the comments, this is fixed in M67, but happen again from M71? What about M70?
What if HW video decoder is disabled by chrome://flags/#disable-accelerated-video-decode?

If that flag is disabled, videos play fine. I have no idea about M70, sorry - I mostly stopped using my Chromebook by comment #5, so I don't know if it was ever fixed.

What version did you experiment? Still M65? Could you try to uprev M70 or perhaps M71?

M71.
I cannot reproduce this on M71. How likely do you see this problem?
By the way, I found another issue to look this. crbug.com/920908 
I am now looking into the issue.
