Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/68.0.3401.0 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. click start menu 2. 3. What is the expected behavior? Have a neutral black background in the start menu not white. Desktop and taskbar icon appear as they always have with a clear or black background. What went wrong? After yesterdays update 4/19 the background of the icon changed to white. Today's update to ver. 68.03401.0 didn't fix the icon. Did this work before? Yes Don't know version number, but it looked right 2 days ago. Chrome version: 68.0.3401.0 Channel: canary OS Version: 10.0 Flash Version: I noticed after today's update that my Canary icon in the start menu has changed to a white background instead of the usual matching black. It did not change on the desktop, just the start menu. I tried a Canary reinstall, that did not help. I did a system restore which didn't help. Before that I had tried changing the icon using the right click on the start menu icon, going to 'open file location', right clicking properties, changed the icon to another, closed it, reopened it and changed back to the original. Still has the white background. None of my other tiles in my start menu have the white background, just Canary. My normal version of Chrome's icon is the same as it always has been, a dark background

Thanks for filing the issue! Checked the issue on reported chrome version 68.0.3401.0 (canary) using Windows 10 with the below mentioned steps. 1. Clicked Start 2. Black colored background is seen 3. Searched for Chrome, results showed in white background for all the applications. 4. Chrome was with black backgound in taskbar. When searching for chrome after hitting start, not just chrome canary icon appeared in white background but all the listed applications are shown in similar way. Attaching the screen cast if the same. @Reporter: Could you please have a look at the screen cast and let us know if we have missed anything in the process. Screen cast/screenshot explaining the issue from your end may help us in triaging the issue in a better way.

thanks for looking at my post. I am still having the same problem. I have enclosed a photo of my start menu. I just upgrade Canary today to Ver. 68.0.3404.0, did a restart and the white BG on the icon is still there. Looking at your animation my start menu never changes to a white background, it always remains black. When making a selection it has a line that is slightly lighter as the mouse arrow crosses. I have enclosed a pic of my start menu, the Canary icon in my most used apps is the same as the icon that is listed further down. Both have a white background. No other app has the white BG.

Able to reproduce the issue on latest canary 68.0.3405.0 using Windows 10. Note: Unable to check the same on Ubuntu and Mac as the UI is completely different. As it isn't possible to check the behaviour of old canary versions, hence marking it as Untriaged and removing label Needs-Bisect. And requesting someone from UI team to have a look into this and help in further triaging it. Thanks!
