omahaproxy , transposed version numbers for Chrome for Mac

Reported by suplemer...@gmail.com, Apr 19 2018

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_4) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/65.0.3325.181 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. visit https://omahaproxy.appspot.com/
2. look up mac versions for the corresponding channels
3. noticed version numbers were transposed for "current_version" and "previous_version".

What is the expected behavior?
i expected to see 66.0.3359.117 to be the current version for mac, stable. Instead it is listed as previous_version.

What went wrong?
i have a script that uses the google chrome latest version number for mac and performs an action based on that. An incorrect value was returned when i curl'd for the latest version, thus breaking script.

Did this work before? Yes 65.0.3325.181

Chrome version: 65.0.3325.181 Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.13.4
Flash Version:

Thanks for your report.

This is probably because we had to briefly stop the rollout of M66 on Mac yesterday during the day. I'm assigning this to one of the omahaproxy folks but I suspect the work for fixing this is being tracked elsewhere.

Let's track the work in issue 834528
Thanks ellyjo & amineer.

Is omahaproxy an official google entity or is it owned/kept-up by a third party? I am still not sure if I sent this to the correct team. I do however appreciate your forwarding it along.
I see that the work has been merged into issue 834528. When this gets resolved, will that generate a notification?

OmahaProxy is an official Chromium tool. This issue has been resolved now (the other bug is restricted because the code is internal-only).
Thanks for the update resek.
That said - you make a great point, supleme...@. There is no obvious mechanism for external users to send feedback about the tool, with confidence the report will go to the right place. We have an "About" link that says the Chromium team supports this, but no link to file a bug.

We should fix that as well. I've filed a separate bug for that, hopefully that's something we can improve shortly. That bug is also restrict view (since we're talking staffing there) but we'll take care of that in the near future.

Thanks for the report, and for asking such great questions - really appreciated!
