Incorrect language being served from Google services

Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/65.0.3325.181 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Start Google Chrome on MacOS 2. Make sure I'm logged in to google with my account and check language settings. Preferred language is English (US) with German as a second language 3. Open one of the Google service pages such as Search Engine, Google Maps, etc - page comes up in Spanish What is the expected behavior? The page should come up in English (which is the preferred language) or in German (which corresponds to the locale as well as the URL, which is maps.google.de or www.google.de) What went wrong? The pages show up in Spanish, instead of (one of) the preferred language. The behaviour is inconsistent. E.g. Google sheets or Google drive would come up with German menus, while Google search engine or Google maps comes up in Spanish! Did this work before? Yes I think this appeared first about 3-4 month ago Chrome version: 65.0.3325.181 Channel: stable OS Version: OS X 10.11.6 Flash Version: Very annoying, as I don't know any Spanish! Changing the language in which the page is presented is easy enough in maps, but didn't find this on the search engine pages.

Thanks for filing the issue! Unable to reproduce the issue on reported chrome version 65.0.3325.181 and on the latest canary 67.0.3390.0 using Mac 10.13.1 with the below mentioned steps. 1. Launched chrome and Signed into it. 2. Navigated to Chrome://settings 3. We have set the preferred languages as English and second language as German. 4. Opened Google maps and search engine. we observed that the page rendered in English. Attaching the screen cast of the same. @Reporter: Could you please have a look at the screen cast and let us know if we have missed anything in the process. Any further inputs from your may be helpful.

Additional questions: Are you behind a VPN or proxy? If you search Google for "geolocate my ip", is the country the one you expect to see?
