Fast clipboard paste in address bar sometimes results incorrect suggesstion

Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_3) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/65.0.3325.181 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open any webpage. It is easier to reproduce the problem if you choose a site with a lot of browsing history. 2. Copy a word in the title of the webpage to clipboard. 3. Press CMD+L to focus on the address bar, and then press CMD+V immediately to paste. What is the expected behavior? The pasted word should be considered as a search keyword in the first candidate. See the first attached image. What went wrong? The first candidate is the url of current web page. See the second attached image. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 65.0.3325.181 Channel: stable OS Version: OS X 10.13.3 Flash Version: The problem doesn't happen if I type the word manually and slowly. It also happens in the Windows version of Chrome. It may be related to the Issue #811757 .

hanshuiys@ Thanks for the issue. Tested this issue on Mac OS 10.12.6 on the reported version 65.0.3325.181 and the latest Canary 67.0.3394.0 and unable to reproduce the issue by following the below steps. 1. Launched Chrome and navigated to a webpage. 2. Copied a word in the title and hit Cmd-L to focus on the omnibox and pasted the word. 3. Can observe that the first suggestion is the Google Search for that word. Attached is the screen cast for reference. Request you to check and confirm if anything is missed from our end in triaging the issue. Also request you to retry the issue on new chrome profile without any flags/extensions and update the thread with the observations. Thanks..

@susan Thanks for your reply. I cannot reproduce the issue on a new chrome profile. From my observation, the issue happens only in sites with a lot of browsing history. A new chrome profile has little browsing history so that it could be harder to reproduce the problem. I have to sync browsing history with my Google Account before I can find the issue. Another observation is that the correct suggestions appear in a flash (less than a second) before the incorrect suggestions appear. So I guess the issue happens when 1) you have a lot of browsing history for the site you visited, so it takes longer time to search the suggestions candidates, and 2) the paste happens before the search finishes.

Thanks for the report. We're still trying to reproduce this issue on our end. If you have any advice such as how often this happens or any unusual system configuration you have (IME? accessibility turned on? etc), we'd love to hear it.
