I'm unable to provide a crash report from chrome://crashes because I can't even open chrome://crashes. I get the Aw Snap! dialog with ANY page I try to open. I get the same behavior using Chromium (Version 67.0.3389.0 (Developer Build) (64-bit)) If it helps, I'm also experiencing problems with the next applications: Slack Postman Spotify They all use either CEF (Chromium Embedded Framework) or Electron Again, these applications work correctly when I start my mac on safe boot.

The breakage of other Chromium-based apps, and the symptom of "Aw Snap!" even on internal pages, combined with the fact that these programs work in safe mode, suggest strongly that another app or service is interfering with Chromium. Unfortunately, without a crash report there's very little we can do here. Reporter, can you start Chrome in Safe Mode for long enough to check chrome://crashes (and perhaps let chrome upload crash reports), then post the *server* crash ID here?

After trying to run chrome in safe mode (using the -incognito flag), I got the exact same behavior (aw snap page displayed after a few secs), so I was unable to check chrome://crashes. Will try starting the OS in safe mode (where chrome opens up normally) and see if I can get something from chrome://crashes

quick update: after disabling hardware acceleration on chrome, it now starts and works normally. However, what about other CEF/Electron-based applications like Slack Postman Spotify? I'm even having a similar problem with IntelliJ's IDEA (it won't start at all)

Huh, the hardware acceleration symptom is interesting - that implies that the GPU process is unhealthy somehow. Can you please: 1) Start the OS in safe 2) Start Chrome 3) Check chrome://crashes and post the entire line that looks like: "Uploaded Crash Report ID 1234567890abcdef (Local Crash ID: 12345678-90ab-...)" The part you pasted is not useful by itself, sorry :( 4) Check chrome://gpu, hit "copy report to clipboard", and paste the results here too Thanks!

This looks similar to Issue 719937, hence merging into it Please undo it, if it not the case. |
