Performance issue: Chrome Dev Tools Lag on High Sierra iMac

Reported by markaaro...@gmail.com, Apr 4 2018

Issue description

Chrome Version: 67.0.3388.0
Operating System and Version: MacOS 10.13.3 High Sierra
URLs (if applicable):

Description of performance problem: Getting considerable lag working with Dev Tools (Inspector). This has been a problem ever since upgrading to High Sierra.

Lag only appears when working on retina display. When moving things over to a 1080p monitor, problem resolves itself with no lag.

Note, I should have mentioned, I have no extensions installed.

Also, I am running Chrome and Canary on my iMac 27" 5K Late 2015 computer at work. I have the same computer at home, and the problem is replicated running the same version of Canary and MacOS 10.13.3.

This pattern of Chrome sluggishness on these iMacs seems to be indicated by users in this thread as well:

Thanks.

Unable to reproduce the issue on mac 10.13.3 retina display laptop using chrome reported version #67.0.3388.0.
Observed that working with dev tools i.e by setting breakpoints, navigating between dev tool tabs did not show any lag.

As the issue seems to be reproducible on iMac and ET-team doesn't have iMac to test the issue. Hence, adding label TE-NeedsTriageFromMTV and requesting someone from MTV team to please have a look into the issue.

Thanks...!!
