Large cursor when switching to external monitor

Project Member Reported by steve...@chromium.org, Apr 3 2018

Issue description

I've seen this a few times:

1. Connect an external display to a Pixelbook (using usb-c -> hdmi + usb + usb-c mini hub). Display has mouse and keuboard connected through the mini hub.
2. Close the lid of the Pixelbook.

Observe: Mouse cursor is extra large. Opening and closing the Pixelbook fixes the problem.

I can't reliably reproduce this, it may only happen once. I will try to get a reliable repro and a feedback report while in the large cursor state.

I tried reproducing this several times but could not, even though I saw it twice while setting up this morning.

This morning I encountered the same problem after logging in (I logged out overnight to pick up an update). I noticed it after connecting to remote desktop. This is on a Pixelbook with an external monitor/mouse/keyboard and the lid closed.

Note: toggling the 'Slow large mouse cursor' a11y setting just makes the cursor even larger, then normal again.

Disconnecting from Remote desktop has no effect.

Opening the Pixelbook lid and closing it restores the cursor size.

Interestingly the cursor looks normal size in the feedback report screenshot, even though it did not look normal when I hit alt-shift-i to file the report.

Can you just take a photo next time?

I reproduced it by the following:
1. Connect pixelbook to monitor with thunderbolt dock (not sure if necessary)
2. Keep pixelbook lid closed, shutdown by clicking on power button in settings menu
3. Slightly open pixelbook lid until white light of startup, then immediately close lid
4. Login screen should come up on external monitor with large mouse cursor even before logging in

Image attached after logging in (past step 4). No accessibility turned on at any time.

This started happening after updating to M65.

I think this might have to do with defaults, since now rather than displaying a "Extending display ..." notification, I see "Exiting mirror mode".

Should be higher than P2. We're getting a lot of complaints about this.

Any update here? We're still getting lots of reports of this.
